SATA Native IDE or SATA as AHCI

Hey guys, which of the 2 would be the better choice? Native IDE or AHCI?
I have a single 1tb WD black hdd and my motherboard supports either one.
I'm also running Windows 7 pro. Do I need to install drivers first and then enable in the BIOS? Or is this already in 7?
    Thanks in advance.

For SSD what i have read it can make a little difference, but very noticeable. I personally am using Win7 in IDE and have SSD+SATA drives.

You will need to do a registry edit so it will read from your current install of Win7. Else you would have to do a fresh install and i hear it takes a long time.

Read this post has some useful info.

AHCI is *much* preferred over IDE mode. RAID mode implies AHCI, for those curious. More on the difference:
