    What to upgrade

    Hey everyone,
A while ago, I asked what graphics card to upgrade to, and i was thinking. would a SSD or a new graphics card (5750) be a better upgrade?
I am looking at the mushkin 40gb

Gamer? If so I'd do a GPU upgrade 40 GB SSD not going to get you much space. What is the main use of the PC?

    Re: What to upgrade

I just saw your specs and what I really think you need to upgrade is that X2 6000. Even if you get a 5750 that will be bottlenecked a bit by the CPU.
The 4650 you have on the other hand should do ok with a newer CPU.
    8350@defaults (burning in)
    Antec 620/w 2 Silverstone FM121 push/pull
    Asrock 990FX Pro Fatality
32GB Gskill Sniper 1600@XMP 9-9-9-24 2T (till I OC cpu and tweak this shit)
    Sapphire 7950
    Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB SSD/500GB WD Blue
    Asus Xonar D2
    Logitech G510/Razer Deathadder
    TT ToughPower 775W
    TT Dokker
    Sony CRT 21"
Win 8 Enterprise x64/Linux Mint VM

    Re: What to upgrade

It is very possible that a CPU upgrade may give you the most results altogether given how most popular games tend to use the CPU at 100%. Despite the reports that AMD has supposedly never changed their architecture, there are key upgrades to the cache design of phenoms and it definately wouldn't hurt to throw in an additional L3 along with at least a couple extra processing cores.

However, although your GPU is of a decent generation, the rest of the card is stuck in the 1970s.

So, the choice you're making is between getting results now and the best way to spend your money. May not be the best choice to go CPU if you know you're going to upgrade it within 6 months. But then, you may not need to. You wouldn't want to force yourself to upgrade after spending a chunk on a video card.

But then, It's not a bad idea to get the video card later unless you're hell-bent on going bulldozer or whatever that thingmajig Intel is up to.

I believe you won't get your boat floated without upgrading both (CPU + Video). That's just how it tends to be when both of them are lacking.

[*just noticed] And looking at a 5750? I would definately just go CPU upgrade. That's not much of an upgrade on the video card. You probably won't even see a difference otherwise.

Or if you have to upgrade the video card you'll have to spend about the same money. A budget of only $100 won't upgrade anything for you. A 5750 is literally almost the same video card as the one you already have but with DDR5 right? Not good enough. Add a 256-bit memory interface and you're talking. Memory interface is huge on video cards.

...Does anybody else feel like Congress simply bailed themselves out? Isn't that what they really mean by a bailout?
