In a similar vein, it really sucks that the Beatles aren't who they originally were.

That's the opinion of Rolling Stone fans, anyways.

On the other hand, Democrats turning into race baiting, wealth envy socialists... awesome!!! Distribute your assets NOW!!!

Sorry pal, but YOU'RE the radical with talk like that.

There were 300 million Americans in 2006. There were 183 million in 1961. How is that less government employees? Government is expanding. Medicare and Medicaid are growing faster than the GDP.

We have low personal income taxes, yes. But our corporate tax burden is among the highest in the world. See:

Corporations, of course, employ people and help average Americans build wealth through the stock market and 401ks.

I'm serious. I am SHOCKED that you think people who think taxes should be lower are radical. Even the usual libs want tax hikes on the rich and tax cuts on the poor. I am honestly, speechless that you think people who want lower taxes at members of the Radical Right. That, to me, is just a stupid opinion as the birthers and the 9/11 nuts.

This country was FOUNDED on excess taxation and taxation without representation. Complaining about taxes has been an American tradition since before 1776. People have been complaining about taxes since Babylonian times when they would hang the tax collectors. I think liteman spends a little too much time reading those liberal blogs written by Europeans.

Hey man. If you think you pay too many taxes, you're a radical!

Taxes are for the good of all!

Obama will be creating the Department Of The Common Good that will be coming around and taking these crazed anti-tax people in white vans and re-educating them.

There is less government employees /1000 people now than in 1960. Do the math, your graph shows it if you do the math. Local employess have gone up, but not the fed or state /1000.

Those corporate taxes that they don't pay are too high? They would be if they paid those rates. Besides where are the Tea Party banners or signs saying the corps are taxed too much?

In 1960, President Eisenhower's last federal budget spent $92.1 billion dollars. That's $670.31 billion in 2011 dollars.

In 2010, Obama's federal budget spent $3.552 trillion dollars.

Government IS GETTING BIGGER. You are out of your mind.

They're spending more, but they're not growing in employees. I'm not saying the spending is ok. When did I say that?

So you have to wonder where all that money is going ....
"We say in our platform that we believe that the right to coin money and issue money is a function of government....

Those who are opposed to this proposition tell us that the issue of paper money is a function of the bank and that the government ought to go out of the banking business. I stand with Jefferson rather than with them, and tell them, as he did, that the issue of money is a function of the government and that the banks should go out of the governing business."

    Re: The 2012 Election Thread

Romney is beginning his defense on RomneyCare. Many conservatives don't like him because, he basically invented ObamaCare before ObamaCare in Massachusetts.

He writes in the USA Today:

    [...]

If I am elected president, I will issue on my first day in office an executive order paving the way for waivers from ObamaCare for all 50 states. Subsequently, I will call on Congress to fully repeal ObamaCare.

The reforms that I propose, which are based on the same philosophical tenets as the reforms I offered during my last presidential campaign in 2008, return power to the states, improve access by slowing health care cost increases, and make health insurance portable and flexible for today's economy.

    [...]
He goes on. His plan is basically very similar to the Ryan Budget - reduce the cost of health care and help people pay for health care through a series of tax credits and reform in the tax code (letting people who buy individual health care do so with pre-tax income - I would love this because I am self-employed and buy my own health insurance, but I digress).

    Yeah, welfare queens is right.

I like how only corporations, bankers and farmers are on welfare in your world.

You and I both know there are millions of Americans out there who don't work and have no desire to work because they get their little welfare checks in the mail.

I have a family friend who worked as a teacher at an inner city Milwaukee middle school. I am not bullshitting you, I am not making this up - she told me that 7th and 8th grade girls talk about getting pregnant so they can stay home and get W2 (Wisconsin Works - our state welfare) checks in the mail. I swear to God/Allah/Richard Dawkins that I am not making that up or exaggerating.

When 14 year old girls are talking about getting pregnant for the sake of living on the government dole, something is wrong with the system.

Oil companies and "farmers" get subsidies which they don't need. Welfare.

Bankers and Wall Street got bailed out. Welfare.

Red States get nearly 2-1 in aid for every dollar of taxes they pay in. Welfare.

    Get it.

McDonalds had a nationwide hiring day on April 9th, I believe.

    They hired 62,000 people.

Bad thing is, 938,000 people didn't get hired that applied that day.

Yes, those that game the system are a drag and bad for those who truly need it.

Just like the corps that don't need it and are still receiving it 60 years later (example, oil companies).

Okay. Let's get rid of welfare everywhere. No welfare for farmers, no welfare for corporations. No Medicaid, no state welfare, no ObamaCare.

    Got it?

Let's see any politician tell someone their grandma should die or an unwed mother will get no aid.

Not that I disagree with your viewpoint on the subsidies. But at least those two industries generate jobs and tax revenue. Welfare queens whose only contribution to society is more welfare babies don't.

IIRC many have paid back their monies and many were forced to take $$. Hows Fannie & Freddie doing?? You know.. the root cause of that meltdown?

Fannie Mae in the Red $8.7 Billion in 2011 1st Quarter

Great news eh? Odd you never bring up the libberal wet dream that runs billions in the red quarterly.

I've heard that repeated often, but never seen the source. Care to share?

IIRC Oil companies don't get specific subsidies like farmers (ethanol). They get the same as every other business.
