I love the fact that Elizabeth Warren and all these leftist candidates are emphasizing with the Occupy Wall Street crowd when they've taken money from Soros. Soros who, I'll remind you all, made his billions short selling the pound sterling on the currency markets. Has if there wasn't a more "fake money" market out there.

Bachmann has been fading fast since she made a big deal about Perry's HPV immunization thing. She has no chance, nor does Ron Paul. I also doubt that any independent candidate will do well in 2012. I think the moderates are fed up with both Democrats and Republicans but I don't see anybody bridging the gap between both sides.

Romney wouldnt go there...and republicans are running around with bees in their heads.
Note to republicans: Be smart...stop finding things for the oposition to use as campaign fuel.
No republican in his right mind or with a dream of winning needs to be anti union in all cases. I might have done like Romney...show up and not have some big thing to say about the deal. What is Ohio's particular situation doesnt need to be the macro attitude of the candidate.

Note to Cain and Perry: If you are going to talk about new tax plans? Either shut up on the granular aspects for the moment or really work them thru. Find guys like our friend here to go thru the plan ahead of time http://taxprof.typepad.com/

Its silly. Sure...you stimulate interest for a few days but why get bagged a few days later if it can be avoided.
Somewhere there is a plan that will do the job. Find one that works then tell us.

And stop killing Cain. Sheesh..he is obviously doing something right...maybe roll with it and see what it is he does for folks that Mitt and Perry arent.

I'd be fine with Paul being one of the other candidates chief financial advisers. Not just a title either, I mean what RP says they follow through on. His economic plan is EXACTLY what this country needs now but the other candidates just don't have the balls to come out and say it.

As for RP's foreign policy ideas? I don't agree with him on everything (ie, bringing Bin Laden to trial nonsense), but on most things I think he's right on target. The US needs to get out of the business of constant wars. For all the money and men we've lost over the decades what good has it really done us? Most of the world and our so called allies hate us more than ever anyway. It would've been better to take a lot of the budget used for defense (and social programs but that's a whole 'nother post) and use it on making OUR country a better place.

I don't agree on his foreign policy 100% either. Though I have trouble arguing with someone who bases his views and decisions on what the constitution says. But even with his military cuts. We would still be spending 5x the amount China does on defence. I assure you, when the wars end. This will be more then sufficient to maintain top dog status...and if it doesn't then we are obviously still pissing away money.

Plus regardless of what the big polling organizations ay. He wins almost every straw poll and local poll.

I think people are going to be suprised in the first few primaries...until we get to fl. Then the old fogies here will vote for the establishment candidate .

Do you know how the straw polls and local polls work? I was in an honors government class in high school, we went to Dubuque, Iowa and observed the Iowa Caucus one year. It's a lot of sitting around in a room, handshaking and local grassroots organization.

Winning Iowa and New Hampshire are all about having local passionate organizations in those states. We all know that Ron Paul has probably the most passionate supporters. The fact that Ron Paul is winning straw polls which heavily favor local grassroots campaigning means nothing. Ron Paul will not win neither Iowa nor New Hampshire.

I do know how they work. But they are not to be overlooked, the people participating in staw polls are the people likely to be voting in primaries. Also Ron Paul has won quite a few straw polls that he lost last time around. Not to mention he wins pretty much every non corporate sponsored poll.

That being said , 4 years ago i would of totally agreed with you about Ron Paul (as was the case). This time around i do not believe that to be the case.

I think people are starting to wake up from economic dream they have been living in. I think far more people understand that the two party system is a scam to keep special interest groups running this country.

    Not to mention the FED...

    Re: The 2012 Election Thread

Ron Paul has won two separate tallies for the National Federation of Republican Assemblies Presidential Straw

In the Iowa voters result, Paul took 82%. Following him were Herman Cain with 14.7%, Rick Santorum with 1%, Newt Gingrich with 0.9%, Michele Bachmann with 0.5%, Rick Perry with 0.5%, Gary Johnson with 0.2%, with Mitt Romney and Jon Huntsman 0%.

The total number of votes cast in that tally was 430.

In the tally of non-Iowans who voted, Paul won 26% followed by Cain at 25%, Perry and Santorum tied at 16%, Gingrich at 11%, Bachmann at 6%, Romney at 1%, and Huntsman and Johnson with 0%.

The total number of votes cast in that count was 101.

I'm telling you, these straw polls mean nothing. If I had $100, I would bet you that on PayPal, we could find a third person to act as escrow, that Ron Paul will not win Iowa.

Yeah...so here is a right leaning take on the Cain deal.

    http://pjmedia.com/rogerlsimon/2011/...tech-lynching/

I guess the women were made to feel "uncomfortable" some way..and that doesnt rise to actual harassment. And apparently they were paid off to simply go away. Thats not really guilt in my book.
Alot of folks either pay or do something to avoid a legal confrontation. The ACLU operates that way everyday with threatened lawsuits. Thats life in an overlawyered society.
My biggest objection is press sandbagging people. Never a discussion beforehand about what they learned and an invitation to speak.
