    Re: "Enhanced pat downs?

Anyone who thinks these screening are necessary, then maybe we should have x ray scans at every public place for fear of terrorist.
Would you want to see these at every movie theater, restaurant, bus, or train?
The bottom line is that it will always be easy to kill people, and we let terrorism win by voluntarily violating our own privacy.

    X-Ray vans anyone?

As another election draws near; the G.O.P. are yet again filled with a stupid confidence that the they will win the White House. What they don't realize about people like Trump, Carson, and Cruz is that their rhetoric only resonates within an echo chamber, but not the American people. They live in an illusion of falsehood and distorted truth and only seek information and opinions that confirm these beliefs and instantly reject anything that contradicts them because only their opinions matter. Their notion of freedom is freedom for themselves and those alike to them, but not the rest of the country which has changed.
These are the reasons why the G.O.P is set to lose in 2016. And when that happens, rest assured that they will have myriad of conspiracy theories blaming everyone and everything from the liberal media, to Oprah, to welfare moms, and pretty much everyone but their own disgusting selves.

    Right on!

We're being crippled by the "what ifs" in regards to terrorism. Of course we should be cautious, but what's being done feels disproportionate to the acts of terrorism via aircraft.

Another issue: doesn't the airline industry have enough financial problems without an intrusive screening? I mean, wouldn't frisking your customers every time they entered one of your establishments have a really adverse affect in other industries? Try a pat-down at a car dealership. Would you want to go there? Hell no!
I mean, it's bad enough they were frisking the flight crew (yeah, I want to be roughly fondled each time I start on a job).

    Re: "Enhanced pat downs?

There's no direct penalty to the airline because it's not them doing the screening, as far as I am aware. It certainly isn't in the rest of the world, which has been doing these searches for years. There will only be an indirect penalty is some airlines do it, and some don't. If all do them, then there's no punishment there either.

In the meantime the rest of the world looks on with bemusement as US security reaches the levels that the rest of the world has put up with since the airline hijackings of the 1970s. I can only say that if your guys are as, er, intimate, with the pat downs as the guy that touched me up, sorry, searched me at Heathrow a couple of yours ago then you are going to feel a little embarrassed.

The trouble with these things is that we simply don't know if they work or not. If there are no hijacking or bombings then we don't know if it's because terrorists were deterred, or never tried it anyway. If there are any, then we don't know if there would have been more without this security.

There are better ways than porn pictures and foreplay. To bad the Americans and Europeans haven’t got the moxie to find them. The Israelis found the right way a long time ago.

The Israelis aren't crippled by Political Correctness and they treat security as if their very existence depends on it ... and it does.

Yes, I've been through their security and they like to have a little chat with you before they let you in.

What exactly does Israel do with their security? I have often thought that whatever they do we should copy but I really don't know what they do.

That is because they don't entirely let you know.

"We say in our platform that we believe that the right to coin money and issue money is a function of government....

Those who are opposed to this proposition tell us that the issue of paper money is a function of the bank and that the government ought to go out of the banking business. I stand with Jefferson rather than with them, and tell them, as he did, that the issue of money is a function of the government and that the banks should go out of the governing business."

Well I went there on a booze cruise from Cyprus by ship, but they must have profiled us (me and 2 male friends, all of military age, must have sent their alarm bells ringing).

We got the 3rd degree before they seemed satisfied. They probably had someone keeping an eye on us anyway to make sure.

It wasn't like this, that's for sure:

You name it, they do it. Profiling, careful selection of passengers, long interviews (see other posts), searches, and yes, pat-downs. Real serious pat-downs. They believe that security trumps all, but in their case experience tells them that this is true.

They also use sky marshals and their aircraft are supposed to be fitted with anti-missile jammers and seeker head blinders (lasers) like Air Force One.
