I'm with O-dog on this one...
One big rail is better than several smaller 12v rails (In my opinion)
My last 3 Power supplies have all been that way,(I only upgraded for extra capacity) except for the modular thermaltake in my home server
I think so too . I was trying to talk myself into saving some cash. Rebates take forever if they ever come.
BUT the corsair comes with an awesome warranty. Which more then covers the extra purchase cost. Not to mention 624w on one rail would mean no power issues at all.
Corsair it is.
Now if everyone can do me a favor. If we all will the gtx570 to go on a sale so i can grab one real quick. It would be much appreciated.
Also just looked at its power recommendations. 32a on 12v rail. Should of just looked at that. Would of answered my own question.
I've been using the same Antec NEO 550w for 4 years and it's been very solid. 3 x 18A rails. Even had no problem handling the 125w AMD X6 and power hungry HD4870 video card. SLI would push it over the edge I'm sure but I've never been into SLI so that doesn't matter to me.

So i patently waited. Nothing seemed to come down to much. Though there are some decent sales.
Im trying to keep the gpu under 300.
Comes down to a gtx470, a 5870 or a 6950.
I know default answer is probably the newest card. But its between 40 and 60 more dollars then the 5870 or the gtx470. and although its faster in most games. It is slower in a few. And i never saw it have more then a 10fps advantage in any game. And most games it was a 3-6 fps difference.
In yalls opinion is the 5870 worth the money it saves? Is the 470 worth it considering its the lowest priced of the group and doesnt preform that much slower.
Or should i just buy the newest most expensive card even though its really not all that much faster then the other option?
Ill be ordering today probably.
I had mentioned earlier in this thread that I recently purchased a 5870 with my new system and experienced the GSOD (Gray screen of death). My games would freeze and then a gray screen would come up and I would have to reboot the system. I sent that card back to Newegg and I haven't had an issue with my GTX 480 that replaced it, so I recommend going with the GTX 470.
Ive read some of the bad reviews on the 5870. Perhaps that one should be avoided.
The thing that has me considering the 6950. Is while the 470 preforms close if not better in a couple older games. The 6950 seems to do much better in new games. And i havnt found the same bad reviews yet for this like the 5870, which are everywhere ( i know its still pretty new but the 5870 was defective out the box for most it seems)
I just dont know if its 40 dollars better or not.
The 6950 would be better in most games, but again the card is new and hasn't had many "user" reviews yet. The safe bet here is again the 470, but the 6950 wouldn't be a bad choice either, just a bit of unknown as far as reliability just yet.
Ok GTX 570 or 6970. Why skimp i never upgrade.
570 ftw?
Final decision between those two.
They look almost even is reviews.
Between those two. I would go with the 570 and the FTW edition is a good choice also.

Cant decide. Leaning tword asus. Plan on overclocking. Dont know much about asus voltage tweak. I imagine it would allow me to change the voltage but i dont know much about the application.
10 dollars more for the same evga card. I like my asus evo mobo. Think ill give the asus 570 a shot. Gonna order now. Thank for the input.
Nothing wrong with the Asus card (I have a 4850 Asus also), the EVGA has a better warranty I believe. Good luck with the new card..![]()
Was supposed to be here today. But its still in transit.
UPS is generally always late in my area. Should of paid the extra for fed ex.
