    Ubuntu 8.10 updates

Forgive me if this has been answered already. I just installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a desktop, has an older Rage 128 ATI card but runs well overall. The issue is I am not getting any updates, and it will not install Gstreamer to run unencrypted DVD movies. This is really odd. Firefox see the net just fine, so is 8.10 not being supported anymore ?

    Re: Ubuntu 8.10 updates

Support ended for 8.10 on April 30th of this year. But if you had 8.04LTS or 9.10 they'd be supported until April of next year.

If you need to download a new version anyways, I'd suggest downloading either 10.04LTS or 10.10 as they are the current versions. And these two versions have dramatically faster boot times then 8.xx versions did.

Thanks SP, I figured that was what happened. I tried loading 10.10 LTS but it did not like the video card, black screen. Have to look up and see if it supports older cards like the Rage 128, may be a work around ?

10.10 will run fine on the 128 Rage card. You just don't have proprietary driver support.
