Tell me about it. Before my brother-in-law lent me his copy of Oblivion, I was all ready to pick up BF3. Now I have no intentions of picking up BF3 until I get Skyrim. Lol, to think that just a few weeks ago I'd barely ever heard of the Elder Scroll series. Activate, you might want to pick up Oblivion and try it out if you're not sure you'll like Skyrim enough to warrant spending $60. I know Steam just had a sale on Oblivion for $5. Worth every penny and then some at that price, even considering how old it is.

oh, trust me.. I know exactly how much I'll like Skyrim if its anything like Oblivion. I pumped at least 100 hours into Oblivion and the expansions and loved (almost) every second of it. For $5 its a hell of a lot of game, and the modding options were so rich that you could basically create an entirely different experience at the drop of a hat. Actually, thats one thing thats kept me from going back and re-playing oblivion. I had so many mods installed that I think it'd be impossible to go back and re-create everything properly to make my old save games work right.

Anyway, Skyrim will remain on my wish-list for now.. maybe I'll put it on my christmas list

    Trust me, I do science

I didn't snap many screen shots. I already uninstalled it to free up some space after beating the main quest and a bunch of other ones. But i did take a couple.

The ones i have dont really showcase the graphics. They were just snapped randomly at times. All were taken on Ultra settings.

I stumbled upon this place twords the end of the main quest..it made me lol. I wonder what they used for inspiration.

This guy is quite the beast. But you only have to fight him once.

My dragon buddy ...he and i had quite a few adventures.

Alduin attacking and his subsequent death.

    Thanks for the pics, Invictus.

It looks better then Oblivion to me, a bit more detailed. I liked Morrowind + Oblivion. Looks like I will be picking this up before Xmas!

I am seriously pissed at Skyrim.

The quest "Blood on the Ice" won't start for me. No way to start it normally, and even using console commands to force it to start is doing nothing. Pretty upset because you need to do it first before you can buy a house.

So, this game is great, but it has the usual Bethesda open world game jank.

That quest isn't required to purchase the house, its only to unlock decorations. ( There are other house's for purchase in other cities, the Whiterun one is both the earliest and easiest one to do.)

Incorrect, apparently. I did it in my first playthrough. But on my second, the stewart of Windhelm won't sell me the house.

You have to do the or Freddie Mac or Fannie May quest first. This will allow you to bypass the Blood on Ice quest and buy the house regardless if you're qualified for it or not. Be warned though, I've heard this can really affect your game later on.

If anything it has gone back closer to Morrowind than Oblivion. Thank God, because MW was always the better game. Ob had better mechanics, but MW was vastly more sophisticated, and much better at making you believe you were in a different world.

Some interesting respawning going on too: in one case, after I cleared the raiders from a fort it was occupied by the Imperial Legion!

I played over 200 hours of Morrowind.....Its one of my top 10 pc games.

Oblivion was just a graphics improvement but its storyline wasn't up to snuff.

(Just like Diablo 3 will just be a graphic improvement of Diablo 2)....maybe the interface will be more sophisticated but the enemies look similar as do Diablo 3's environments......

I guess the developers don't want to lose any of the series fanbase (of any game with multi sequels, most don't take risks).

Must admit that I've killed a lot more dragons than giants. Which reminds me: the game doesn't seem to track how many dragons you have destroyed? I think it's about eight, but I got a CTD just as I killed one outside Riften. Only three giants though: the scripted one near Whitehaven and two more together. Got the later two by sniping off a rock they couldn't climb. Took a long time though.

Well, I'm dumb. Browsing some of the TES wikis out there, and it appears that Giants don't attack you unless you attack them or you get too close to their mammoths or their camps. In my last play session, I saw a lone Giant on the road. I assumed he would attack me first, so I hopped off my horse and battled him. Since there were no mammoths around and he was alone, he probably would of let me be. Argh.

I was young when Daggerfall came out. I did play with my uncle on his computer, but I didn't remember this: it seems that there were Giants in Daggerfall and you could even learn Giantish and speak to them. I must say the Giants are awesomely bad in Skyrim. They are disgusting to look at, unnaturally tall and lanky with the weird carvings in their skin. They're pretty gross looking. But, they just want to raise their furry elephants, so I'll give them a wide berth if they don't attack me.

    I need more dragon bones!

I've really been getting in to smithing. I've maxed out my smithing skill and can now create dragon armor! You need a fair bit of dragon bones and scales to create dragonbone armor, though, so I'm running around looking for all the dragons I can find!
