heads up problem w/nvidias newer cards

Interesting , maybe I got a bad card then because I have one of those MSi Hawlk 850 Mhz non reference cards ? I don't know . Anyway I am just going to return the card , save up and wait and see what nvidia is up to this summer . I hear That this close to releasing a GTX560. Be interesting to see how that pans out . I dought it would be better then your 570 but at the very least Nvidia should be able to better tweak their drivers , and the prices should drop on the 500 series cards.

Interesting and thanks for the heads up . I am just going to save up then and see about a 570 then . Sounds Like I got a dud with the MSI . I am surprised to hear that about MSI . Who would you go with if you were considering a shiney new 570 ? EVGA ?

i have read some forums with bad feedback on msi cards, i have never had one so i cannot comment on them myself.

you probably have about as good idea as i do on the 570, but if i was to buy one today, it would be one of these 3...i know you sort of get nervous with asus, not me...i just bought a recertified asus laptop, and i am very impressed with it...

zotac is not well known in the us, and its really has not been where they marketed in the past...but the reviews from users are usually very postive

many have to consider price , since these cards are sort of pricey and i sort of realize why many go for the cheaper priced ones. i still am running the gtx 260, would like to upgrade that, but money is tight

The asus card i have seems to allow higher voltages then some other manufactures without having to edit anything. Though it really doesnt matter as anything over 1.05 gains next to nothing for me.

I like this card though. If it had been around when i bought this 570 i might have considered getting it. Though no reviews on it yet @ the egg.

The warranty is garbage, but it comes full a full size hdmi and a display port. The asus and most others come with just the mini hdmi.


That being said. It doesnt seem that any one brand is getting better clocks then another on avg. 850 is the average oc with 900 being at the upper end of what most cards will do that i have seen. Then you have the rare ones that people have benched @ 1ghz on. But those and few and very very far in between.

One thing i have noticed is that. This card runs very cool. So when i begin a bench it takes a bit to heat up. This card will run @ 950 with no errors and stable under 60c. When it gets around 58 you see fps start to jump and at about 60c it becomes unstable. With good water cooling you could get some pretty sick over clocks out of this thing.

Looks like Jan 25th , I will be holding off for a bit on buying anynew card to see what this brings to the mix . Might make a good SLI config with a couple of those 560s !

lot of interest on the net in regard to the gtx 560 ti.. theres been sepculation that it will be up to 39% faster than the 460, and at a decent price too....might be worth the wait.

we will have to see . I was considering a couple of gtx460s 768 mb in SLI as from what I was gathering would beat a single GTX580 and cheeper . But 2 of these GTX560s might be the better choice even if they are only say 20% faster then the 460 then that would realy kick out some serious frame rates !
I need to beef up my power supply if I am seriously to consider a SLI config.
Right now a 700w that only has 2x PCIE 6 pin. Looking real hard at Corsairs 850w modular unit

I tried to upgrade to nvidias new beta drivers and couldnt get the screen to fit my desktop thru hdmi. I could resize it but then it wasnt running at 1920x1080.

Upon reinstalling the previous 263.09 drivers i noticed i now had the same problem. But disabling the hdmi audio output specifically in nividia control panal somehow fixed the problem . Tried the fix with the new betas but it doesnt work. So i reinstalled the old and it worked again.

Anyway, heads up on the new drivers if your using hdmi.

I see nvidia just released new drivers the 266.58 WHQL , I am testing them out now . So far pretty nice !

After Nvidia's Nvision multi display driver trashed windows on me 3 months ago, I'm not pleased with the drivers. Yes, I finally figured out what trashed Windows on me back in November.

I have an MSI 220GT in my system, until I can get the card I want which might end up being the Radeon 6990. No offense against Nvidia hardware, but the drivers do need a little work.

well I have been using nvidia cards for years , never had a problem except once with the gtx460s and the 260.99 drivers. I dought that could be said for AMD/ATI cards .
That said the new drivers DO give you a option not to install Nview or Psysics sowfware . Just coose "custom" on setup and go!

I don't like the last set of drivers, or the new set. Stuttering in cutscenes in Dragon Age Origins popped off, Two Worlds II after awhile freeze and then crash. The problem with Two Worlds II could also be a problem with the game itself, but I doubt that.

I've learned since then to do custom installs, and what sucks is that after a little search, it seems there are still some instabilities with Nvidia's drivers that can at random bring down Windows Vista or Windows 7, depending on system configuration.

I'm currently running an MSI 220GT, and I'm starting to wonder if there isn't a problem with the card itself, have checked MSI's website and no bios updates for the card and really old drivers.

I was disapointed to see this did not solve my issue on my Alienware M11X's 335M GT. The water in WoW still does not render.

Uninstalling Physx is not an option, as a lot of games, including Mass Effect 1&2, Dragon Age 1 and Dragon Age 2, Two Worlds 1 &2, and Sacred 2 to name some use it.
