Wrath of the Titans
The hell... Wrath of the Titans is pretty bad. An example of where the action/special effects is the ONLY reason to watch. There is a lack of interest from all involved. Movies like this are a simple recipe - how does a director (with a budget!) wreck something like this? And wth is up with his Bieber haircut? In the first movie, Perseus/Worthington had a military cut. This time he is too cool for school.![]()
2/5 Stars.
Jack and Jill
I recorded this one day thinking it would be slap-stick and that my 9 year old daughter and I could watch it for a few laughs. By the end I had the whole family watching it.
Its "dirty" good. The kind of good you dont want to admit. The kind of fun that just happens.
Is it stupid? Yes.
Is it low brow? Most times.
Was it worth the $3.99 rental? YES.
First off, its typical Sandler. Simple. Second of all - like him or not, the guy has friends. Al Pacino will have you in tears. FREAKING TEARS. A lot of cameos too (Depp, Carvey, etc etc).
3.5/5 Stars (.5 extra because it made my wife laugh - she HATES Sandler)
Grave Encounters
Meh.
Excellent scare scenes... botched by lack of charactor depth mixed with long periods of build up. The first 30 minutes will have you hooked, only to be disapointed by what happens VERY MUCH later.
It feels like a "simple" found video footage film, then it adds some good scares, then before you know it, you are meandering about.
You know how when you watch the Paranormal Activities movies your eyes hurt/strain from searching for movement/ghosts/etc? This movie starts like that, then shifts to traditional baddy chase scenes and feels clunky all of a sudden.
2.5/5 Stars.

I know what you mean about Wrath of the Titans. All special effects and no story. I watched it 3 days ago and couldn't tell you what it was really about.
Red Tails. decent idea, TERRIBLE execution. Actors are bad, lines are god awful, the cliches are just too much. bad bad bad. The only reason I was able to tolerate the movie for more than 5 minutes at a stretch (and I couldn't watch it straight through) was the decent CGI they used in the dogfights. WWII warbirds dogfighting appeals to my inner child

Lockout
Meandering, rambling, stale. An OK movie for .99c, but I got ripped off at the $3.99 price I paid.
I do want to say that Guy Pearce played his role in a unique way. Almost... good. His charactor is very reminicent of Clark Gable or John Wayne.. or neither I dunno. I grew up in a time where everyone smoked in movies, so seeing him "obsessivly" fumble for his lighter and a smoke was sort of cool in an old throw back way.
2/5
OR 3/5 if you rent it cheap. Yea, its one of those movies. As good as "The Scorpian King 2"... haha.
