    Video card companies

Are there any brands that you would not recommend for either Nvidia or ATI. It seems like when I look at Nvidia there are many brands that have good reputations. When I look at the ATI brands there aren't many that have a good rep.

Also what control do they have over the quality of the card, or is it only the OC and the cooling they tweak?

I was looking for the 5870 by amd and it showed that there is only one certified, which is powercolor. What happens if I were to purchase a HIS or diamond or xfx?

I'll list popular brands for consumers:
    XFX, MSi, Sapphire, Asus, Gigabyte
The other ones aren't as popular it seems:
    HIS, Diamond, Visiontek, Powercolor

Everyone likes XFX the most for their warranty usually. Otherwise, it really doesn't matter too much.

I've heard good things about Galaxy.

    Never used them myself though.

Yeah, galaxy looks to be a solid brand. I was just listing ATI companies since the OP said none of them had a good rep ;p

You are not sure whether is it 'good or bad'? Why do you decide to mention it then? Obviously you think it is bad, the reason for which you do not disclose.
A wild guess could be that you either don't believe in capitalism or just want to discriminate against Chinese products (race card?).

ALL of the graphics cards companies in this thread are either Taiwanese (which to a LOT of people means the same as Chinese) or Chinese, except for perhaps Diamond (which likely manufactures most of its graphics card in - China or Taiwan).

Well, XFX is owned by a Chinese company but the graphics business and all the development is done in California.

Though, as I mentioned in another thread, (almost) anything you buy on Newegg is made either in China or Taiwan.

    Re: Video card companies

I really just buy whatevers cheapest for the model I want, or has the best package deal at the time on newegg. Ive never had a horror story with any brand. Ive owned XFX, eVGA, MSI, Zotac, Gainward, Asus, ATI, Sapphire, and Powercolour before. No issues with any of em.

I only worry about brand with mobos, memory, and PSUs.
