just installed cm7 rc1 on my evo.

they've changed some stuff since i ran cm6 on my hero, most notably gingerbread now.

hoping they get 4g working soon.

debating whether or not to flash back to stock sense.

I have a HTC EVO running Cyanogenmod 7.0.0-RC1, very nice phone, and much better with the new ROM than with the stock HTC Sense ROM. I recently switched from AT&T, as a similar plan with them wouldve cost me upwards of $120 per month, while Im paying $82 per month through Sprint after tax. The service in my area has been very good as well.

sprint has really turned around in the past couple years.

they got a couple really good phones with the evo and the epic, customer service has improved big time, and they have by far the best value as far as plans go. they may not have the coverage of verizon but we do get to roam on vz's network.

now they need to get some new phones, keep the high end ones rolling in! oh and looks like they'll be ditching wimax sooner than later for LTE. i'm all for that, i hardly use 4g as it is, opting for 3g while moving and wifi at home.

4G isnt available in my area yet, but the sales rep said it should be here come June. 3G is quick enough for what I do anyway. I usually opt to put it on wifi instead of 3G. How do you like CM7 so far? The only bug Ive found was Car Home doesnt work properly...other than that, works great!

i switched back to stock sense. cm7 just isn't ready for prime time on my phone yet.

no 4g, the front camera quality in the camera app is horrendous for some reason, and i just didn't find it ready to be my daily driver.

i'm waiting until they get their first stable build out. then i'm likely to start flashing the nightlies pretty regularly

is it just me or do they change the sound packs far too often in cm? i don't recognize hardly any of the notification sounds in cm7 from when i was using cm6. it sounds silly but i like to have a short, easily heard, simple sound for my default notification, and the ones included in cm7 are crap. it's a small complaint, easily fixed but come on!

Were you running CM6.1.2 (stable)? Like you, I use simple to the point ringtones and notifications, and the ones I used in CM6 were in 7.

Re: Smartphones. Who here has 'em?

last i used was cm6.1 i think on my hero.

i'm hoping sprint gives us evo owners at least one more major update when 2.4 comes out.

glad they're not doing 2.3 as there's not any huge differences but 2.4 or ice cream will have bits of honeycomb in it plus whatever made it to gingerbread and that sounds like a worthwhile update.

with the evo still being their flagship phone it seems somewhat likely.

sadly they're changing their premier program so if your bill is under 99 a month you only get upgrades every 22 months starting in april. that means us evo owners will be evo owners much longer.

i somehow see myself buying my own phone outright before then and selling my evo to offset the cost though. if my hero got me 150 bucks being 1 year old, i'm sure my evo could do a bit better!

Same here. It looks to me that the going price of a used EVO in my area is $300 to $350, not bad considering its nearly a year old already.
