Yes, 16 cores is quite a jump from 8

what i'm saying is that you'd expect a clockspeed or TDP bonus by moving to 32nm from 45nm at an equal core count. I was just making a statement based on my gut feeling about those numbers that it doesn't seem like we can expect fantastic new things from the new process and architecture in terms of TDP or clocks... not that we should be. Its also probably safe to assume that the top bins @ 16cores will be in the 130w TDP range

cheap. not sure thats a great sign as to the performanceAMD Bulldozer FX-series Processors

FX-8120 8 3.1GHz (4GHz Turbo) 8MB 8MB 125W $221.73

8GHz+, even if it requires LN2 is pretty awesome. I want BD, even if it's just a 6100. We'll see, but I'm kinda hoping to jump on the Zambezi bandwagon at tax time.
All I'm really hoping for is BD to do as good as a 2500k really. I just really want to have an AMD based system again. Of course everyone knows that the decent oc'ing dies almost always come out at least 6 months behind the initial release of a new line of cpus, so I'm probably still better off going with the 2500k anyway. Why couldn't I have needed to upgrade my system 6 months from now?![]()
I can wait until February.
Should be receiving my mobile desktop replacement for now. It contains an i7!
I wonder, if I buy a Bulldozer in 2012 - will it have 4 or 8 cores? The more the merrier!

From an article on the front page here at PCPer:
What was more interesting was the casual overclocking we saw pushing upwards of 4.8+ GHz without breaking a sweat...

This is good news and gives me some hope. I just hope I can get this rig put together before BF3 is here.
