Yes, 16 cores is quite a jump from 8

16 cores @ 2.4 max seems on par with their old process. thats pretty disappointing for the move to 32nm
    2x6 @ 2500 105w tdp does not compete with 16 @ 2400, tdp unknown

what i'm saying is that you'd expect a clockspeed or TDP bonus by moving to 32nm from 45nm at an equal core count. I was just making a statement based on my gut feeling about those numbers that it doesn't seem like we can expect fantastic new things from the new process and architecture in terms of TDP or clocks... not that we should be. Its also probably safe to assume that the top bins @ 16cores will be in the 130w TDP range

8GHz+, even if it requires LN2 is pretty awesome. I want BD, even if it's just a 6100. We'll see, but I'm kinda hoping to jump on the Zambezi bandwagon at tax time.

    Re: Any Bulldozer rumors?

All I'm really hoping for is BD to do as good as a 2500k really. I just really want to have an AMD based system again. Of course everyone knows that the decent oc'ing dies almost always come out at least 6 months behind the initial release of a new line of cpus, so I'm probably still better off going with the 2500k anyway. Why couldn't I have needed to upgrade my system 6 months from now?

    I can wait until February.

Should be receiving my mobile desktop replacement for now. It contains an i7!

I wonder, if I buy a Bulldozer in 2012 - will it have 4 or 8 cores? The more the merrier!

    Q9300 with 4 GB DDR2 1066 RAM
UltraSharp 2408WFP (needs to be RMA'ed) on GeForce GTX 285 on two 18 amp 12V lines
    Audigy X-Fi Fatal1ty w/ Logitech Z-5500 & Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and HD 595
plus the usual stuff in a poorly designed Antec P180 PW case

From an article on the front page here at PCPer:

What was more interesting was the casual overclocking we saw pushing upwards of 4.8+ GHz without breaking a sweat...

    http://www.pcper.com/news/Processors...w-World-Record

This is good news and gives me some hope. I just hope I can get this rig put together before BF3 is here.

Yeah I know, but if the BD can outperform SB at the same clock speed? Hey, I can dream can't I?

Email the CEO 3dfx. Tell him kbohip from PCPER is tired of waiting and that they need to stock Newegg immediately. That should do the trick.

Yea, unfortunately its probably just a dream I think the consensus is that SB outperforms phenom II by 20-30% in IPC and nothing points to bulldozer managing that big of a jump
