    I received a replacement P8P67 Pro MB

I received an Asus P8P67 replacement motherboard today via overnight Fedex delivery. I didn't ask for over night delivery. I did a cross ship with Asus. When I installed the new board and booted, Windows 7 loaded up the drivers all over again and later told me I had 3 days to activate due to hardware changes. I told it to go ahead and activate. It activated online without any phone calls or new serial numbers. It was like I activated the first time. It was an easy swap.

    That's a happy result

I had to reactivate over the telephone, probably because I'd made three builds in a month.

Re: I received a replacement P8P67 Pro MB

I received my ASUS P8P67 Pro B3 motherboard replacement via Fedex overnight shipping on 3-8-2011.

It came with a free ASUS HS-101 earbud set of which I trust you received the same,...?

I haven't had a chance to install the board yet but I tend to go for the full 120 days of use before activating the OS which is in this case Windows 7 64bit (retail). So there is no need to re-Activate since I have yet to Activate for the first time.

I hate Activation so I try to be 100% sure everything is the way I want it before doing the deed.

I received the ear buds too. I thought it was a nice gift. I didn't receive any information on how to return the old board yet. Asus will probably send that out via a cheaper way. I've always felt uncertain about how many times can I re-activate Windows. When I installed Windows on this rig I made an image copy with no software installed but activated. Trouble is, that image is no good now that a new board is in the computer. The next time I install windows I will make an image copy after I get it activated with no software installations. Should I ever want to refresh all I will have to do is restore from that image. It will be activated and clean.

Yeah I heard ASUS ran out of complementary HD 6970 cards so we had to make due with the earbuds,......

    Just kidding,......

    Would have been nice though,......

A day or so ago ASUS sent me an email with a Fedex form. Basically, you print out the form and pack up the old motherboard with all its boxed parts. Then take it to your nearest Fedex location and present them with the form. They take it from there.

Some people might think the print out is a shipping label if they are not mindfully of what they are doing but no harm done either way.

Sorry, I'm on an iPad and it makes it a little harder to post.

    ***edit***

We have 14 days to return the old board when using the Advanced shipping / cross shipping method.

Thanks for the MB return information. I appreciate it. That will save a phone call to Asus. I have a Fedex close by and the old board and parts packed up and ready to go. I guess the next big thing I'm waiting for will be from AMD. Intel had a misstep but I have to give them credit on how they handled it.

The next big thing from AMD,.....?

You mean the upcoming AMD FX8000 series 8 core, FX6000 series 6 core and FX4000 series 4 core parts in mid June,....?

    AKA Bulldozer,....

I wish them the best of luck with these parts but since Intel will launch Sandy Bridge-E LGA2011 in Q4 it gives them time to tweak something beyond its performance if Sandy Bridge LGA1155 is left behind Bulldozer.
