Y'all are getting a little full of yourselves. Let's wait for
    a) benchmarks
    b) intels price drops if bulldozer surpasses sandy bridge (telling name?)
    c) " " " " " is priced lower then SB.

$1000 buck desktop cpu's are for buyers with more sense then money. Always have been, and not worth any time to speculate on.

Yes, and did you buy one??? No. My 3700 OCed above the level of the then current FX (think they were 500 by then, the FX) The intel extreme editions were 1000 bucks as well.
Just like the Intel hot cpu they were not seriously for sale, but if some one would pay for it...

AMD's were cheaper in terms of $/intructions/second then intels. Basically intel sets the price, then AMD comes in under. A little under when faster, quite a bit less when intel is faster. When intel lowers their prices, AMD follows. When the A64's were faster there was a literal price war. When c2d came out prices stabilized. I paid about the same in dollar terms for my 6-core as I did for the 3700 (single core cpu)

lol, You really don't like best buy. I can think of a couple reasons why u'd say that. I'm sure u'd tell me more. I look at it like this.... It's still an asus board. BB doesn't put a different mb in the box. So the mb is the same as if you bought it some where else, if anywhere else was still selling it that is. Free shipping, so I'm over paying by roughly 10 bucks. Since I'm using the credit card, it's not real money And if I have a problem, I can just take it to the store for a refund.

    Re: mobo cpu upgrade ?

Well, I applied some of my girlfriend's feminin cream and sent the cpu back. Breaks my heart. Maybe in a few months, after bulldozer or what not, I'll pull the trigger on an upgrade. Thanks for everyones input.

I bought this cpu on ebay a month and a half ago, but the guy jacked me and never sent it. After I got my $ back, I bought from TD. That kinda turned out to be a good thing, cause I couldn't return it to some roundhead off ebay.

Got an opti 170 for $185 Nov 2006. OCed quite nicely. had to check the invoice as your price seemed way high. I didn't get them when they first came out As I recall the P4D were a real problem heat wise.
