    router traffic monitor

So I seen the other day that ATT was putting a 150GB cap on DSL or whatever. As much as I would like to trust ATT with monitoring my data traffic I was wondering if there are routers out there that can also do this. I just have an old Belkin and dont really want to spend the money on a firewall to monitor it.

    Thanks all!

ClearOS. Also, switch ISPs and write a dirty letter to AT&T.

Quick note, ISP's have there own monitoring policies and don't follow 1 to 1 data usage patterns.

Generally its monitored through times slices and then averaged to generate a calculation.

Lesson here: get 1 to 1 data and bludgeon the heck out of your ISP if they say you've run over your cap and you haven't.

Then again, I'm vehemently against data caps. They should be advertising speeds they expect users to be using 50% of the time, IMO.

BTW, a clearOS gateway will allow you to use it as a caching proxy, so you'll save bandwidth on frequently accessed sites that it can cache.

honestly I dont think im using anything near 150GB worth of data a month. But still I want to be able to protect myself. Even if its not 1 for 1 I dont want ATT saying ive used 200GB when my firewall says ive only used 75GB. I would expect the results to be some what similar.
