    Re: Bridging two routers

think I'm gonna call TWC Signature Home help and see what they say. Maybe they need to do something on their end to the Motorola box.

what is interesting is that the PC that remains wired to the Motorola still has internet access even though NAPT and DHCP are both disabled.

You mentioned that you 'can put' the Motorola into bridge mode. Did you? If so, change that. The D-Link would be the one acting as a bridge in this configuration. So if you set it up as that, it could be breaking things.

Good luck getting it working. I was tearing my hair out at the same thing recently, then whatever I had set up just started working after a while.

Well the call to TWC did the trick. Seems b/c I had a pc plugeged into the motorola while I was trying to bridge it messed things up. It was trying to supply an IP to both the PC and the router whenit was not a DHCP server.

Hmm, its supposed to allow the ISP DHCP server to assign ip addresses when bridging. So, it basically was ignoring the disabled DHCP server on the motorola?

sounds like the dhcp server on the motorola modem was disabled and because (im assumin gyou were only allocated one ip from TWC) you had two devices and only one IP, with the pc you had plugged in original taking it leaving nothing for your dlink router? or maybe i misunderstood what you were saying.

what did you do? did you enable dhcp on the motorola? or did you just remove the pc from the motorola and pass everything through the dlink and use its dhcp?

yep that was it. TWC tech was good. 1st set Motorola to bridge and disconnected everything. Dlink and all pc's, then he reset the motorola from the back end and we pluged in the dlink. Once it registered on the back end with an IP we plugged the PC in and everything worked.
