Asrock Wolfdale 1333-D667 not recognizing ATI GPU!

Hello people,
I am trying to install an ATI 5830 on my Asrock Wolfdale 1333-D667, however I am not getting any signal! The screen i completely black with a message "No signal from Video Input". My nvidia GPU works perfectly with my mobo. Is there a compatibily issue going on? If ss is there any bios upgrade I am not aware of? Thanks.

Is your existing video on-board ?

Could you enter your system information into the space for that in your User CP then enable viewing of it? Or could you make a detailed signature listing all of your parts? This will help others answer this and future questions, and you only need to do it once. As an example of the level of detail we need, you can click on my system dropdown or look at some of the other signatures you see here. Thanks.

Actually this is a friends system. He lives in Venezuela. Im not exactly sure what his specs are. All I know is that his ATI 5830 wont display any signal. Ive read online that intel chipsets have issues with AMD GPUs. Is there a fix for this? Or does he have to change his Mobo? Thanks.

Seems like a good reason not to buy intel, unfortunately I doubt very much it is true.

There are 2 possibilities (not counting defunked card)

1)most likely the 2 power connectors to the gpu are not connected (2x6 pins) Older psu's often do not have these connectors, adapters should have come with the card to plug into 4 pin moles connectors. GPU will not function without them

2) possible but doubtful (as no video is detected) if on board video is present may have to be disabled in bios
