Maybe, barely. Make sure you keep in mind the 12v line on your PSU. Amps matter more then watts when it comes to high end graphics cards like that.

In other words, you might have enough Watts to power the whole system but not enough amps.

Is it a 1GB 6950 or a 2GB 6950? The power usage difference between a 6950 1GB and the regular 6870 is not all that much.

Corsair puts out quality PSUs and very likely your VX450 will handle it (even the 6950 2Gb) just fine though, although you should forget about a crossfire setup. Perhaps lose some of the OC on your CPU and memory for a while though, just to make sure everything's working ok (btw: the combined power usage added through your OC'd CPU and memory is likely in the same ball park as the difference between your current GPU and a 6950).

What's the AC in your area btw? I assume it is 220-240V (unless you are actually posting from the US)? That gives you a slight advantage over countries with 110-120V AC as it enables your PSU to work that tiny bit more efficiently.

No, the safe choice would be to get a PSU with adequate 12v line

Re: does 6950 works properly on vx450w

    ~150w for a 6870
    ~200W for a 6950
    ~215W for a 470
    ~170W fot a 560ti
    *under load

so with those choices the 6870 is the best bet
