    Re: My New Build (Feedback Wanted)

    ^^^ Ya.. I'm thinking my current rig will be fine for BF3. If not I can always see if this CPU will hit 5ghz. I adjusted the settings to 4.5ghz stock volts from go. I do not think this CPU has never run at stock speeds. After some stability testing I figured I would not be needing more than 4.5Ghz for anything but benchmarks if I felt the need. If that fails to produce acceptable frame rates I guess I can swap one of the modded 6950's for a 6990.

    Heh. I have 2 ASUS EN9600GSO's sitting in their boxes next to my desk as I type and I have no clue what to do with them. I pulled them from my nephews rigs (which I built some time back) when I upgraded their computers this last Christmas. They now have 5770's and I have no clue what I'm gonna do with these. Got enough spare GPU's around here to choke a cow as is.

    This fall sure will be an interesting time this year as far as PC part prices go. You should be able to get an awesome deal.

    I may come across as a total nutjob, but this system is so good it makes me shiver thinking about it.

    Things I like:
    * I knew things would be faster with Windows installed to SSD, but it's hard to imagine until you've seen it for yourself.
    * The GTX 295 (and the GeForce 9800 GTX+ before it) were apparently the loudest things in my system. The GTX 580 is WHISPER quiet. So quiet, in fact, when I first did my initial startup to see if it would POST, I thought the GPU wasn't spinning up.

    Been busy with work and have been installing games from Steam, so haven't had time to put it through its gaming paces yet.

    Things I don't like:
    * Cost, I guess, wasn't a bargain build.

    Hey, oh, as rich man, don't have to worry about cost. Money not very important. Peeps, much more important.

    Glad to see it all arrived and you are happy with your purchase so far.

    The SSD thing is one of those things that you don't truly appreciate until you have one. I installed Windows 7 in about 5 min off of a USB stick for the first time, and it was clear that I would never be going back to HDD's for OS's.

    And if you didn't like the cost of this rig, just imagine how much you wouldn't have liked it with the extra $650 for the second gpu and PSU

    ^^ Yup.. once you have your OS coming off an SSD.. you really can never go back.

    I'm still confused about the choice 580 though. Nice card? Yes. Good performance? Yes. But the price!! To each their own.. but IMHO for that kind of $$ you could have done much better with a Radeon setup. No fanboi here either.. I've hated both ATi and NV equally at one time or another. AMD just seems to be hitting the price/performance sweet spot ATM. Enjoy yer new rig!
