I'm sort of surprised it was named "Operation Geronimo" as well. I read that after the Vietnam era "Operation Killer" offended Americans, the Department of Defense instituted a formula by which operations would be named. I believe it's similar to the way hurricanes are named where they have a set list of names that are circulated in and out annually.

I suspect Operation Geronimo was an unofficial name that the troops gave it and came out in the press.

Not that I care. Being a German American, they could call it Operation Pale Efficient Kraut Nazi Bastards and I wouldn't care. But, oh well.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is Dead

    Compare and contrast...

    Don't wanna inflame muslims?:

Obama: I won't release bin Laden death photos

"It is important to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody who was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence or as a propaganda tool," said the president.
    Or do we?:

Barack Obama to release up to 2,000 photographs of prisoner abuse

Dunno.. could be a me thing. But is sure looks like Obama is reinforcing my view that he is a 2 faced sack of sh*t.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is Dead

Did you see what Obama said on 60 Minutes?

"We don't need to spike the football on this."

Spike the football? What a doof. I like how a Columbia and Harvard educated constitutional lawyer tries to portray himself as the everyman.

As for releasing the photos, I really don't care either way. I believe he's dead. I know why he isn't releasing them, but I would release them if I was in the President.

I will point you guys to the article I posted in this thread a few days ago - the guy who defended the Federal government from FOIA lawsuits for over 25 years says that the thinks somebody can use the FOIA to get the pictures out of the government.

I also like how Obama has been making a speech every day since it was announced they got Bin Laden. I guess he's gotta do his victory lap.

Hmmm, so, it says that Operations starting with "GS - GZ" are designated for the US Navy. So, considering it was a SEAL job, maybe Operation Geronimo was the official name of the operation.

Re: Osama Bin Laden is Dead

Well, here's another piece of bulldung that we've been fed... and something my architectural brain called foul on the minute I heard it... the UBL complex is a million dollar compound. Not so fast.

Assessed value of the land... $48,000.

Add for piece of dung house and out building... I'll be generous... $150,000.

Long arsed block wall around site to keep down dust and make firing patterns difficult... again, being generous... $50,000.

I mean, cut the crap. I've designed quite a few million dollar homes and they're in California where the prices might be a bit steeper than Ikanhidemyassbad in Pokyston, but it doesn't take an arsonist to fanger out that that shithole is not a million dollar pad ready for Cribs on MTV.

So why act like it is?

Why have we been fed so much misinformation about this entire deal? The firefight. The wife as a body shield. UBL being armed. The value of the place.

Is there something wrong with the simple truth? Does everything need a spin job?

Nancy Pelosi, full of shit as always.

    Pelosi on September 7, 2006:

[E]ven if [Osama bin Laden] is caught tomorrow, it is five years too late. He has done more damage the longer he has been out there. But, in fact, the damage that he has done … is done. And even to capture him now I don’t think makes us any safer.
    Pelosi on May 2nd, 2011:

The death of Osama bin Laden marks the most significant development in our fight against al-Qaida. … I salute President Obama, his national security team, Director Panetta, our men and women in the intelligence community and military, and other nations who supported this effort for their leadership in achieving this major accomplishment. … [T]he death of Osama bin Laden is historic….

^^^ Just glad the Navy SEAL team (which does not exist was able to do it's job. Let bama go ahead and "handle" the backside. If anyone could f*ck this up it's him. He's doing a bang up job so far with all the conflicting reports. If he were one iota as smart as everyone claims he is he'd of let the Pentagon handle the info/news briefings exclusively. But alas.. the smartest administration evar is trying to handle it and the results are to be expected.

And our Holder Justice Department.. still going after those that got the intel that led to OBL's death.

Debra Burlingame: Obama Says He Will Not Intervene With AG Holder Over Indictments of CIA Interrogators

Just over FoxNews now. As the wife sister of one of the victims of 9/11 -- and a persistent critic of Obama's policies -- she used the meet-and-greet as a chance to ask Obama about an issue that concerns her.

Holder's holding indictments over the heads of CIA interrogators -- the same ones who delivered Obama to him.

Burlingame asked him about that, and said "I know you can't tell him what to do" (which isn't really true), and Obama said "That's right."

Then she asked, even if she couldn't order him to drop the prosecution of the interrogators who got bin Ladin, if he would at least offer Holder his opinion that there should be no prosecutions, he answered: "No, I won't."

    Huh. Big Damn Hero, huh?

She went on to note that, last May, a Dallas US Attorney sought to indict CAIR officials (for terrorist ties and terrorist funding, of course), and Holder quashed those indictments.

We're in the very best of hands, as Instapundit says.
Terrorist enabling CAIR officials = free pass
CIA operatives who get information that keep us safe = haul them into court

And on the [cough] CNN, et.al. switch from Osama to Usama... I'm sure y'all were wonderin' what's up with the name change... it seems the Freudian slips from Osama to Obama were so troubling, they decided to switch Osama to Usama so they wouldn't say Obama instead of Osama or Osama instead of Obama. So if anyone says Ubama, don't confuse your ubonics, they mean to say either Obama or Usama, but Usama is Osama and Obama is Obama. Usama and Osama are dead in 2011, let's fire the other one in 2012 and get on with things.

Lol, but Fox News was doing it too.

I tuned them in on the night the announcement was made and they kept talking about "UBL did this" and "UBL did that".

    ^^^ et.al.

But last night, bouncin' back and forth, FOX called him OBL and CNN called him UBL. That's what got me thinkin' about it.

    And the Lakers lost.

Not tryin' to elevate one news agency over the other here, they're all over-glorified peddlers of bulldung.

Could ANY of them not make every approach to the podium by Osama Ubama Obama a breaking news story? "Here's a building flying into the tornado... wait... breaking news... Osama Ubama Obama will be speaking to the Zuider Zee knitting club in five minutes... over to you Lipstick..."

One thing I noticed.... The WH said that the complex had not phone/internet, or electricity going into the compound. However, they found a 'treasure trove' of intel from laptops, thumbdrives, hdds, etc....

How would Osama use these if there was no power????

That's what I'm saying. Obama is definately doing a victory lap. I think he's addressed the public every day this week.

Tomorrow, the President will make an address about the Bin Laden mission to Mrs. Carter's 5th grade class!
