    Repartioning Existing System Drive

    Hello again

I've read a few threads, checked the Win7 help files and still can't decide if I understand this right so I'm here to ask the experts.

My main sytem drive is a single 320gb partion (appart from the system reserved bit).

Would I be right in thinking that I can just use the "shrink volume" command in disc management and create a new partition on the recovered space WITHOUT stuffing up the OS?

    Regards

    I would just say yes.

The MS systems since Vista have provided a facility to resize the partition which has been provided by some commercial software like Partition Magic but is free from any Linux systems using Gparted or Parted Magic.

The partition should be resized first, then rebooted before new partitions are introduced.

Vista/Win7 own resizer is a lot faster than the commercial and Linux alternatives but not as flexible.
