Dead Island

I haven't touched Dead Island yet, but Steam version is supposed to be seriously screwed up. I guess the devs accidentally uploaded a pre-released dev Xbox 360 build of the game to Steam. It guess it's really buggy and has Xbox 360 prompts everywhere. They say that they've fixed it though and a patch should be dropping into Steam soon.

Yeah, I wonder how they upload stuff to Steam. I think the devs have a fair amount of self control, because I think this has happened before (where some developer uploaded the wrong build of a game). I just imagine like a Steam upload page (like for YouTube or Flickr).

I guess the female character has a skill called "Gender Wars" that gives 15% damage bonus to male zombies.

The folks digging around in the dev build that got uploaded to steam found that the skill was originally called "Feminist Whore". Both developer Techland and publisher Deep Silver are quickly saying that they are SHOCKED by this horrible name.

Some guy on the Steam forums says that the buggy dev build "broke" his ATI graphics card.

Kinda like Borderlands meets Left 4 Dead with some Dead Rising and Fallout 3 sprinkled in.

Needs tweaking of graphics options in a file, specifically and most importantly vsync because I think it makes the graphics card work too hard without it. There's other tweaks. Game hasn't crashed on me yet. Zombie and survivor FPS RPG.

Yeah, it's good for me. The opening mission has a few Xbox 360 control prompts where PC ones should be (move right stick, wtf) but that's the only place I saw it.

Looks better in game with tweaks on fast computer to look it's best. Shader model version, AA and AF adjustment is some more.
