I've used some that are avail from Bleeping Computer, but
does anyone know of a excellent registry cleaner ? The ones
I have used are FixNCR.reg and rkill.com but surely there is
software out there that totally cleans corrupted reg files..

Most are "free" to an extent, they will scan the reg and then tell you to remove the bad files you have to buy the full version

I found a true free one called Glarys Utilitys that seems to work good and is made for Win 7 x64.

Theres a pro version if you want to spend the monies, but I find the free for private use normal one works just fine. And it does more then just reg cleaning.

I use CCleaner. It has other tools as well. The free version is all I have needed. It even does registry backups prior to changes.

afaik, rkill is not a reg cleaner. it is used to shut down stubborn malware processes that are preventing you from cleaning up a system.

I, too, use and have been using ccleaner for years. never caused any issues for me.

I've never tried that one. I'd be interested to know how it is also. But still CCleaner seems to do a good enough job already and includes several other built-in tools. It really is a nice totally free utility.
