In the interest of introducing strengthen our community, we've decided to begin a series of interviews we like to call "Meet the Frogs". The staff would like this to be a little snapshot of the group here so that we can get an idea of what kind of people are involved, why they wanted to do it and how they got started. So without further ado, I introduce our latest interviewee:

So who the heck are ya?
My name is Matt

Where do you call home?
I pick my mail up in Janesville, Wi

Any family?

Yes, 2 kids (one of each kind)

What do you do to pay the power bills?

To oversimplify things, I travel the country making sure Data Centers and telephone offices function properly and efficiently

What do you do in your spare time?

I try to game with the Fragging Frogs as much as I am able

What Distributing Computing (DC) projects are you involved in?

Just folding@home so far...

How did you first get involved in your chosen project?

I really can't recall

Why do you participate?

It used to be about the points for me, now it is about the science

What major goal or milestone would you like to see DC accomplish?

Hmmm, I'll have to think about this one

What projects have you contributed to? Any others you find interesting?

Just folding right now, I haven't looked into Boinc yet...

What teams have you contributed to?

Just 734 (the Folding Frogs)


What brings you to The Pond (734)?

The team itself.


If your current project ends, which one will you move on to?

No Idea...

Current level of production and what kind of hardware are you using?

Right around 60,000 PPD.

1 - SandyBridge 2600k @ 4.5 gigahertz

1- Bloomfield I7-950 @ 4.02 gigahertz


Do your rigs have day jobs or are they dedicated folders?

the SB rig is a dedicated box, the 950 is my primary gaming machine


How are these rigs configured? OS, client, etc?

The SB rig is a Linux box (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) with -Bigadv flag

The 950 box is a windows 7 box using the GPU tracker. What unit this rig runs depends on whether I'm home or not.

No GPU's running at this time...(takes away from my -bigadv addiction)

Not much to know, but I'll answer pretty much any question.
