Solved! Removing front piece from Antec Nine Hundred Two

Hi all. I got a good deal on this case at BB last Christmas. I went to do some maintenance on it a few weeks back and could not recall how to take off the front of the case. I know it pops off, but I cannot figure out how, and there is no explanation in the manual. I feel like an idiot. You have to take off the front piece to add or remove hard drives and the like. Help.

Yes, the side panels (the one with clear plastic, the other a steel pane) both come off so I can see inside the computer. I'll have to look and see if the side cages come off first. I thought the front of the case somehow popped off, and then you removed the drive cages. This is way too hard, I feel silly. I pull it tonight and take a peek again.

Hmm, I went back and looked at the manual again, and I think maybe I know what the problem is, though I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to work on it. But I think the issue is that the front plate does not come off as a single unit like on some case, but it comes apart in pieces.

I'll check it out tomorrow. I should remember this. But I put my system in this case quickly and other than blowing out the dust, it has just sat next to my desk since December, I have not messed with it. Anyway, I may have it figured out. The neurons still discharge every now and then.

I solved the problem on how to remove the front piece of the case. I figured out that the front piece, um, does not come off. At least as one piece. I simply had to remove the drive cages and a few other steps I figured out.


Now I see why there is nothing in the instructions about removing the front piece . . . because . . . it . . . is . . . not . . . to . . . be. . . removed.

If you TRULY want to take off the front panel of the Antec 902, you must also take the top of the case off to access two small screws that are on the top left/right of the front panel (screwed vertically downward). Removal of the top is also helpful if you ever need to change out the top 200mm fan and/or the front ports. There are two screws behind and two in front of the top fan (in the metal frame of case, NOT the plastic frame of the fan). The top then slides to the front about a half-inch before it pops off. You can then see the two tiny screws holding the front bezel at the very top.

The front bezel also has metal screws directly behind it, screwed horizontally, that can only be seen when the side panels of the case are removed.
