    Invisible dvd drive

    My friends dvd writer keeps disappearing from his system then coming back

    anyone know how to fix that?

    It's an internal drive on his desktop

    try reseating both the power connection and both ends of the cable between the mb and the rom.

    At least it comes back! Sounds pretty well trained, but he needs to work on the "stay" command!

    Check the power management options for the device in device manager. See if maybe it's getting put to sleep somehow.
