This is the problem with benchmarks -- they don't tell the entire story; suffice it to say, the difference between dual channel and single channel is the bus width is doubled (64bits x 2 = 128bit). This allows (key word) for more bandwidth to travel to and from memory; however, it is up to the application to utilize it.
Keep in mind too, your read and write latencies are probably not the same, so one will normally perform better.
