    Careful of TDL4 root/bootkit virus

This is a very nasty rootvirus. Flat nasty. Takes over
the works starting at the boot sector.

I was able to download Kaspersky's TTDSKiller and
it got rid of it so far, but one may have to go into
MS's recovery console to clean. Here's a pretty good
    YouTube on it..

Re: Careful of TDL4 root/bootkit virus

I remember once upon a time it was common place for the BIOS to prevent any writing to the boot sector on the hard drives unless you switched the lock off. This came in response to the many boot sector infections that old DOS computers were prone to.

I'm surprised that its taken virus makers this long to return to their old ways since I haven't seen a BIOS with this feature in over a decade.

I guess new dogs learn old tricks..It sure made a mess
of the unit. Took a fair amount of time to get it clean.
