Cut sens2_Return connector on new HD audio

Hey, I just got a new case in the mail, and it came with a cut Sens2_Return cable on the HD audio port. I would just resolder it, but its cut so closely to the female end, that there's not enough wire to strip for the solder. Will my audio function with out this connection?

Could you enter your system information into the space for that in your User CP then enable viewing of it? Or could you make a detailed signature listing all of your parts? This will help others answer this and future questions, and you only need to do it once. As an example of the level of detail we need, you can click on my system dropdown or look at some of the other signatures you see here. Thanks.

Without knowing what parts you are talking about, its hard to recommend anything

sense2_return appears to tell the motherboard that there is something plugged into the headphone jack. does the Motherboard keep sending sound out to the jack regardless?

It's a HAF X, and the mobo is an ASUS Sabertooth X58

Looking at the mobo pic, the pinout from the Motherboard to the Case can be either Ac97 or HD audio.



now looking at the case pic, the case can take either AC97 or Hd audio.



I'd ignore the "cut" sense wire, and hook up to the legacy AC97 connection.

Are you really planning on using the "front panel" connections anyway ?

I would, but the AC97 is attached to the Hd audio. as in the cable goes from the header, to the HD connector, and then the AC97 is another connector, branched off of that. I'll try and find a picture on le google

All the cases that I'm aware of, have that connection the same way...

Just connect the AC97 portion, and leave the HD audio unconnected

the connection to the AC97 is broken as well.

You should be able to pull out one of the pins from the AC97 connector and cut the wire as far back as possible, then use it to replace the pin with the cut wire on the HD audio connector, giving you enough wire to solder the connection to.

Even better, looking at the wire diagrams, there are several pins on the AC97 listed as NC (No Connection) so you don't even have to worry about making the AC97 plug not work. Assuming there are actually pins there...
