Well gosh, if you're driving in a truck/suv in which you don't have a real use for other than to "feel safe" you would wish he has that "gas dial". lol

Since we use our trucks to and SUV's for purposes other than "feeling safe", is it OK if we simply wish the post turtle would stop his stupid game of being anti-oil and let us as a country drill for our own damned resources?

You seemed to be implying that politicians had some sort of control over gas prices, which I think it's pretty clear they don't. Obama has a 46% approval rating and Congress has a 13% approval rating. I'm sure that if they could brag about lowering the price of gas, they would.

Sure, they could open the strategic petroleum reserve or start drilling in the US but the SPR only has enough oil to feed the United States for 4 days and drilling for oil in Alaska would take years. The implication that Congressmen can call their buddies at ExxonMobil and get the price of gas lowered in their district is silly.

For most people the gas is a fixed cost because of their long commutes, so the house actually has to go before the gas if they want to keep their jobs. then you get your domino effect like you're talking about.
Yeah, grocery prices were also really high that summer (summer of 2008) too.

The fact that the US is sitting on HUGE reserves of natural gas is what really pisses me off when I see the gas prices heading higher. Anyone driving a non-diesel engine car or truck could convert their car to run on natural gas, and have a hookup in the garage.

Something very interesting buried in an article stating that natural gas prices are at ten year lows.

Unlike natural gas, gasoline and heating oil futures tracked crude higher.

Saudi Arabia’s oil minister was quoted as saying oil at $100 a barrel is acceptable to the kingdom, the world’s top oil exporter. That “has added a bit to prices,” said Matt Smith, an analyst with Summit Energy in Kentucky.

    http://www.marketwatch.com/story/oil...dist=afterbell

Oh really? That'll work for 'ya? I distinctly remember a few years ago Saudi Arabia stating that $75 a barrel oil was a "fair price" and that would work for them. Now $100 is good for them.

Edit: Yep! I knew it! I even remembered the exact wording correctly too!

n 2009, Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah called $75-a-barrel oil a fair price. But the price of fairness seems to be rising fast: According to the Financial Times, the Saudis now prefer to keep oil prices at about $100 per barrel. What’s changed?

So we can pretty much expect this yahoo to think that $125 a barrel will be a "fair price" in 2014?

To add to what I posted above last night. I repeat. We are sitting on HUGE reserves of natural gas. Just about every internal combustion engine out there can be converted to run on it. Most homes in the US already have natural gas supplied directly to them. Natural gas is now dirt cheap. Sheesh, elect me president and I'll fix our reliance on foreign oil, I'll vastly improve our economy, and I'll make the commute a lot less expensive.

    Thanks Obama.

That probably cost him about 2,000 jobs created/saved/maintained.

Watching Jay Carney talk about it in the regular White House Press Briefing. He starts by saying "I'm not going to talk about the unsourced reports that a decision has been reached on the Keystone pipeline," then he begins talking about how they haven't made a decision, but this pipeline would be bad for our kids' air they breathe and the water they drink. Hmmm, sounds like they made a decision to me, Jay. Then, rather than talking about Obama's decision, he bashes Republicans for including it in last month's budget bill. Then, he started blabbing about how the Republicans were against a tax cut for middle class Americans (which the payroll tax cut barely is).

A reporter just asked if Obama is pro-pipeline, and Carney started saying that Obama is a pro-US energy president and started babbling about how natural gas and oil production is up under Obama (really?). Then he started going on about clean energy. So, is he a pro-oil and natural gas president or a clean energy president? How much oil production increased when Obama blocked all offshore drilling after the Deepwater Horizon accident?

I see why Jay Carney is Obama's press secretary. The man is a master •••••••• artist.

Well, I don't know why or how this has happened, but my town is the second cheapest city in the US to buy gas right now! Average price for a gallon of regular is $3.01. That's a full 50 cents a gallon under the US average price according to Gas Buddy. My sister just paid $2.90 at Sam's Club today. The Costco closest to my house is $2.96. I guess I'll fill up tonight just in case the prices go up.
