PC10600 vs PC12800 Question/Help
Ok, I'm considering building a new desktop machine after some time. System would be an i5 based cpu, with an MSI mobo that supports Ram @ 1.5V.
My question is this:
DDR1600 Ram typically is 1.65v. I understand I can use this in the mobo, but will it still run @ 1600 @ 1.5, or will it revert to 1333 @ 1.5?
If that's the case, is there any benefit in getting DDR1600, or would it be just as good to get DDR1333?
Memory I am considering is Patriot PGD38G1600ELK DDR1600 (2x4GB) @ 1.65v, G2 Series. I like the lifetime warranty. Won't be o/cing.
Thanks.

Re: PC10600 vs PC12800 Question/Help
RAM setting will default to whatever is set in BIOS - usually (IIRC) the 10800 speed setting. You would need to go into BIOS and set them to the correct figures for the RAM you have bought. Once that is done, the RAM will run at the 12800 settings you put in BIOS.
