    New ssd question/s

    New build for my mother:
    Crucial m4 128 gig ssd http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148442
with this mobo and cpu : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186220

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115076
I will also be adding a additional WD hdd for storage and such.

Plugged the ssd into a sata 3 port set to achi installed windows7 Home pre.
Runs great, super fast I get 7.9 on WEI. No problems and I'm very happy so far.

My question is, as this is my first time with an ssd

Do I need to worry about trim support and/or garbage collecting or is this something that just takes care of itself?
Is there anything that needs to be done to ensure the quality of the drive is maintained over time?

She will be using the machine for web browsing, email, word processing and some light photo editing.

Also, What's a good program to test the speed of these things?

TRIM takes care of itself in Win-7 as long as you allow the PC to idle for a couple hours a day. Some folks use the log-in screen to let a machine idle.

Benchmarks are whatever you like to use. AS SSD is popular, as is ATTO, there are new benchmarks coming out regularly.

There is also a new firmware out for the M4. As long as you have FW0009 or later you'll probably be fine w/o the newest one as it only effects really high usage disks.

    M4 Firmware 0309
