    Video card question

On one of my secondary computer I am replacing the failed video card. The card I purchased is the EVGA GTX 550 Ti (2GB DDR5). On this computer I am running a nVidia 8800 Ultra which was a hot card in its day. Question is this - should I use the new card on this computer since it is the main machine - quad core with SSD etc. (the new card seems to have better numbers) or keep the 8800 Ultra and put the EVGA 550 on secondary computer (2nd computer is intel CPU - not sure which CPU but it runs art 3.15 GHz quad core with Win 7 Pro 64 bit).

    Thanks

Note - this computer is just like the one in the profile except it does not use the 2 X 9800 Gx2 video cards

    Re: Video card question

Just put the newer card in the main system since you use that the most and you'll get more out of it.

    Spoiler!

thank you everyone. I will then put the new card on the main computer - i was not sure if i was degrading the system even though the card is newer.

    Thx!

550ti is ridiculously faster than an 8800 ultra.

I see that. I loaded the 550 into this machine and wicked faster. Also does not take as much power and much lighter.

    Thank you everyone who replied.

yeah that 8800Ultra is a beast......I must say for its time it was awesome, Some folks still use em for playing fairly new games at moderate resolutions.
