Yeah, they even said that the PC was the lead platform for Crysis 2. Then we had to wait 5 months for them to release a high-resolution texture pack and a patch that added Dx11 support. Mmhmmmm.

I think the thought process was, "Hey guys, people loved the path choices and wide open jungles of Crysis, lets take everything that worked well and reverse all of it and blame it on piracy."

I actually hope they screw up Crysis 3 like they did with 2 on the pc. All those bad reviews from pc gamers when it came out drove the price down fast. I think I paid $10 for Crysis 2, and it was for a very stable, DX11 version.

Saw the gameplay trailer last night. not interested. I always thought the aliens aspect of Crysis was by far my least favorite part so this really looks dumb

As much as I can say that I hate how this exact thing has already happened with the pc market, I can assure you that it's coming to the next iteration of consoles. Microsoft and Sony are salivating at all the future game sales on their networks. The strange thing is though, they don't seem to care how much the game gets discounted even a month after it's release. Take a look at Mass Effect 3 for instance. It's already 50% off at Amazon. That kind of price so soon after release used to be only available in the used market for consoles. Now what will ME3 used sell for? $20?

So? Used game sales have never existed on the PC with CD keys and whatnot.

Uh, yeah they have! I used to play a game, then Ebay it within a week or two. Lol, I remember listing a couple for a 7 day auction the day I started playing them. One was Daiktana.

Used PC game sales do exist. Check amazon, gamestop, ebay and numerous other retail stores.

One of the reasons I keep a console around is I know lots of friends that only play console games and when they are done with a game, they let me borrow it.

While it is true that some PC games have a CD key that only lets you register to one online account, consoles are a different animal. They are kid friendly and one of the best thing about growing up with nintendo and sony was borrowing my buddies' games and vice versa.

People who make shitty games want to make it impossible for people to get some of their money back from their shitty games. People who make shitty games don't want game retailers to turn a profit from their shitty games by selling used copies for 10% more than the trade in value. In reality, the retailers most likely already lost money on their shitty game because it was shit and most people didn't buy it and they are left with a hundred copies of Modern Battlefield Alien Shooter Simulator II.

The answer for developers is this: Stop making shitty, rehashed, cliche, unintuitive, dull, boring, lackluster, campy, rushed, clones of shit games. Case in point: Crysis 2

^^^Yeah, Crysis 2 kind of sucked imo. I'm glad I only paid about $10 for it. I'd have been PISSED if I spent $60 on it. Then again, I'll never spend $60 for a game so....

I'm sure they will try to kill the used game market with the next gen consoles.

Well, I can't really disagree with anything you said other than I thought Crysis 2 had its fun bits.

As for used game sales, if you're going to disqualify any interest in Crysis 3 just because some dude at Crytek hates used game sales, then I think you'll never be buying a game ever again because I'm sure every developer on the planet would rather you buy it new from them.

As for the next Xbox and PlayStation 4, I doubt they'll lock out used games. My points:

A - Profiles on the current consoles are super janky. I have a buddy who can't access some DLC because some game only allowed you to download free DLC to one console. You hear stories, dudes can't re-activate their XBL profile on a different console, the XBL gamerscores randomly disappear. I don't think Microsoft (or Sony) could assure a flawless way to get your games to play on a new console if you upgraded to a slimmer Xbox 9000 in 2017.

B - The new consoles won't be digital-only because a third of America doesn't have broadband internet and even then, there are people who don't use credit cards and will buy everything for cash at GameStop. So, if they locked out used disc-based games from playing on consoles, they would immediately get hit with tons of class action lawsuits. This used game sales problem will eventually solve itself when the PlayStation 5 and whatever Xbox brain implant are digital only, but in the mean time, Sony and Microsoft and the publishers have no reason to open themselves up to legal troubles and costly class action settlements.

C - The new consoles won't be about gaming. Every new announcement Microsoft and Sony make are "Hulu Plus coming to Xbox" "Netflix coming to Xbox" "Netflix for Xbox gets new client!" "ESPN360 for Xbox" "BBC iPlayer for Xbox" etc. etc. These consoles are audio-visual multimedia hubs, and, I think the gaming is a secondary consideration for the platform holders now. MS and Sony are willing to loose the $10 licensing fee they get from every new game sale, because they are probably going to have all sorts of mechanisms in place to make tons of cash on non-game stuff on the new consoles. The video rentals, the music rentals, the whatevers.

Nobody asked, but that's why I don't think the new consoles will lockout used games.

They're end of round multiplayer crashes to desktop on every single game i've had. Excessively annoying and unwanted crashes. Would be satisfied when the crashes are gone.
