I guess it really depends on what peripherals you are going to use with your wireless NIC.
If your not using a device that supports wirless N then you should think about upgrading your other device because the speed of wireless N is considerably higher than just wireless a/b/g.
If your device only supports wireless a/b/g then you have a lot of cheaper options to look at.
If your using wireless N then I would get the fastest NIC supported --I saw two at new egg supporting 450Mbps.
Hope that helps.
This card is pretty awesome.

I use this card with my Asus RT-N66U and the speed and signal
are amazing
It's a/b/g/n dual channel so it should work with any wireless router you have.
Using the supplied modem/router from Verizon Fios. I have no idea if N is supported. Just looking for some ideas.
Thanks for responding!
Butch
sucks to be using FIOS. you cannot use your own router. you have to use the FIOS coax router which supports b/g only.
What other wireless cards are the others reading this post using????
I dont' I use a wireless router with my iPhone. and when my daughter is in town from college her laptop has wireless N built in. Otherwise I use wired on my computer. (so much faster)
i just use whats built into the mobo. have not purchased a wireless card in 5 years. the last wireless card i purchased was the el cheapo brand airlink at frys electronics. it still works today.
Is using a PCI card a must?
These usb adapters are good.
I have several of them and they work well.

USB will be fine for Wireless G, if that's all the FIOS router supports, then why not go for USB simplicity?

It's too much work to update my specs in a sig, it's a 6 core budget build. If you must know, it's in my profile.
I use a D-link 566 in one computer and D-link 556s in two others.

Thanks all!!!
Bought an EDMIAX EW-7722In. Seems to have it all and the price was good. I never heard of the EDIMAX brand until I started looking.
Crossing my fingers.

one thing i dont like about those wireless cards that have antennas is they can get in the way of other connectors from slots above them. positioning them horizontally and pointing away from the expansion slot seems to reduce signal strength. i think that was the reason i purchased the airlink cards at frys. they come with extension cables and a stand for the antennas.
