Can't update to CCC 12.4

I'm trying to update my 6970 from CCC 12.3 to 12.4 but it doesn't seem to apply.
I've downloaded it multiple times directly through CCC and from the AMD website.
I've tried letting the installer overwrite the existing files by its self. Also tried uninstalling CCC all together and manually deleting the left over files.
Every time i finish the install and check the software version it is still 12.3 no matter what I've done.
I'm about at wits end here, i'm about to just re-install Windows.
Can i please get some suggestions and help?

There must be a few files you missed deleting. Try using DRIVER SWEEPER utility before you reinstall the 12.4's...

Yeah, look into a program that does a deep sweep of all the files and even registry entries.

I had issues with 12.4 as well. Driver sweeper only complicated these issues because now I had to uninstall and reinstall net framework 4.0 (win 7-64)

After that the installation succeeded however CCC reports that I still only have 12.1 installed even though Device Manager reports that I have the correct driver for 12.4 (driver 8.961.0.0)

Are you trying to update the drivers or just the CCC? I'm using the 12.4 drivers w/o issues. I installed them over the RC3 drivers so Afterburner would still work.

Catalyst version shows: 12.4
CCC versions shows: 2012.0405.2205.37728

I'm trying to update everything that can be updated.
I'm also assuming the CCC includes the drivers.
My Catalyst Version says its 12.3
CCC Version shows 2012.0405.2205.37728
Now i'm officially confused. So its partially up to date???
I even looked up the compatible cards for the new version and my card is there so wtf??

Now i understand why people always bitch about the AMD drivers...
It should require no effort on my end just to update, period.

Just wait for the next update if this doesn't work. Other than that, try different sources for the download.

If the drivers themselves are up to date except for the control centre, who cares? Read the release notes on the CCC and if it's really that important, just contact AMD

For what it's worth, I have a 6970 as well and successfully have the 12.4 CCC and drivers and it was straight from AMD's website.

I've tried downloading through CCC, tried going to the website using the auto detection, and finding it directly....
But thank you : )

I'm just going to suck it up (the drivers them selves are up to date, just not CCC as it seems) and if it still has the same problem by the next update, then i'll just re-install Windows... : /

Downloading through another source meaning a completely other website although I imagine that it will be the exact same file as AMD's

I'm not sure if people still do modded drivers these days but I remember it being popular when I used to use NV cards.

In a completely unrelated issue, I've been re-installing Windows today, and now CCC wont update past 11.5 (the version from the install CD)
can someone please tell me what is going on here???
What can i do about this???
