    oem win 7 question

    ok I am on the trail of upgrading from xp. Bought a oem copy of win 7 64 pro , now what upgrade options would I have in the future mainly concerned with monitors vidcard upgrades and hard drives . Thanks for the replys

    IIRC, The oem will only be tied to your motherboard so upgrading hardware other than your mb shouldn't be a problem.

    I suspect that he's referring to hardware changes and reactivation.
    It's like XP - iirc if you change more than 3 major components you will get the notice but usually a phone call will get you up and running.

    I find it best best to make a backup image of the os after everything is dialed in. Then if you start swapping components and get the 3 day notice you can put back everything the way it was originally and restore the image.

    yep thats what I am wondering , say I wanted to upgrade hard drive or vidieo card with a OEM copy could I do so with out any hasstles .
