    Mechanical Keyboard Deal at NE

    http://slickdeals.net/f/4699912-Rose...th-free-webcam

Rosewill Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX (Blue/Black/Red) switches 63.99 free ship with free webcam!
good deal on some mechanical keyboards. rosewill doesn't have all the frills, but at this price they're 30 bucks less than anything else. The reds are good for gaming as judged by O-dog (thats me). Not bad to type on either. I'm typing this right now on my monoprice KB with MX Blacks and its miles better than the old membrane I used to have. Pretty sweet deal. Browns are $25 more. Note, can't be shipped to NY. I could offer my PO box services to those who need them

As a separate, I was thinking about making a "gaming deal" thread since such a thing doesn't exist outside of the steam sale thread and I wasn't sure if this warranted a whole new thread.. Or maybe the steam sale thread should be made into a more comprehensive deal thread. thoughts?

ordered one with the blues myself. I wanted to see what the tactile feedback really felt like. I like typing on the reds even though its not really what they're "designed for".

LOL it took me forever to pull the trigger on the first mech and now i've got 3

    Sale ended last night.

I was almost going to buy a brown last night (shipped to my parents in PA) but the letters wearing off the keys (laser printed not etched keys) stopped me.

This will give your Rosewill keyboard a cool gamer look:

I still think the nicest mechanics (if money is no object) are the WASD Keyboards but fully equipped they are a bit pricey.

WASD sells these cool o-ring switch dampeners which seem like a nice solution to address noise and bottoming out.

The WASD keyboards are cool, but functionally theres nothing terribly special about them. Yes, you can customize your keycaps, but in terms of fully-loaded features like backlighting etc, they don't bring anything to the table that you can't get cheaper. I've heard a lot about the O-ring mod, especially on the blues to tone down the clacking. It can be done on pretty much any mech, so I might go ahead and try it out on one of mine. The letters wearing off the keys on the rosewill doesn't bother me. any normal membrane keyboard will probably wear out too since almost none of those use double-shot keys (aka pretty much the only ones that can't wear out). The keys on the rosewill seem at par with any other keyboard I've used recently other than my k90. Anyways, can't you touch-type len?

Hard to describe until you've used one. It might take a bit of getting used to at first, but the key feel is very different from a normal membrane keyboard. its a much more positive action, much smoother. I get that a lot of people say "100 for a keyboard? insane!" but its definitely a much nicer experience. Is it worth $100? I dunno, thats up to you, but $65 dollars wasn't such an awful price point. I paid more than that for my G15 and going back to gaming on that thing is impossible after my K90

"Good one Ponton". Actually I've never had the letters wear off any keyboard I've owned but users report that happening on the Rosewills. I was just thinking if I'm going to pay that much for a keyboard the letters should stay on!

i'm sorry, should have thrown a smiley in there because I was just kidding

Anyways, the keys seem to be of equal quality to any of the laser-engraved keys I've used previously. Obviously I haven't used it much at all and can't vouch for its longevity, but build quality doesn't seem particularly shoddy.

I knew you were joking People do say the RW keyboards have good build quality. You will just have to let us know how those WASD keys hold up to O-Dog usage

Re: Mechanical Keyboard Deal at NE

got my rosewill mechanical in today with the red switches. typing on it to do this post.

definitely a very different experience from membrane keyboards.

im actually really digging this keyboard for typing. but ive always been a quick touch typer i don't need much feedback. ive also noticed i seem to make less mistakes on this keyboard. thus far anyway.

something ive noticed though is that maybe its just me but some of the keys feel a tad stiffer than others. its not a big deal but just something ive noticed.

the blues are really clicky. I definitely like them for typing, but I'll need to get a separate wrist rest to type on it since the lack of one makes typing on it uncomfortable. Once I figure out a solution to that problem (probably just steal a rest from another KB I'll take it in to work to type on for a while

Cooler Master CM Storm Quick Fire Pro SGK-4010-GKCM1-US Mechanical Keyboard with CHERRY MX Brown Switch
    $55 = $100 - $25 (promo code 2BLKNVMW25, ends 11/12) - $20 rebate card with free shipping

That's $75 shipped and just $55 after rebate. I don't know anything about this particular keyboard but that's probably one of the lowest prices I've seen on a mechanical. User reviews seem good and it's even partially backlit.

I love mechanical keyboards. I would get one if I wasn't trying to squeeze every last red penny out of this Logitech G15 I bought like a year ago.
