WORST pc game you ever bought

For me its gotta be Dragon Age 2! I enjoyed the first DA and wanted more after it was over, like a fool I ignored reviews online regarding this game.

Bad interface, controls (especially camera) are all over the place. No characters from DA did I see..........

    Horrible excuse for a game.

Re: WORST pc game you ever bought

there are a bunch of games i own that i haven't played yet, so I must add the caveat that one of those may yet be the worst game i've ever bought. That aside its a tough call. What defines worst? Worst value for money? Glitches? Missed opportunities? Hype followed by a subsequent letdown (aka disappointment)

    Worst games I've bought:
Dead Island (probably fulfills the most criteria: glitchy, paid decent money, disappointing)
Medal of Honor (Close runner up, expensive and just plain bad)
Crysis 2 (extremely disappointing after 1, but i got it fo' free)
Mass Effect 3 (the sheer disappointment ruined it totally)

theres probably more, but those stand out to me

ya know, I completely forgot about MOH.

If I remember we all bought it ("the regulars") for early access for Bad Company 2 ?

    And yeah...Malaria

What defines "worst" for me is having any interest at all in actually wanting to play it. I'd enjoy looking out a window more then firing up DA2.

I thought Skyrim was a letdown also, but not a major one. I preferred Oblivion as its interface was less clunky..............

Re: WORST pc game you ever bought

Hmmm, have a few for me.

Back To The Future: The Game - The folks at Telltale Games can make some great adventure games, so when it was announced they were making a BTTF game and Bob Gale was writing it and Christopher Lloyd was returning to voice Doc Brown, I pre-ordered right away. Unfortunately, the game only takes place in 1920s Prohibition era Hill Valley and modern time. I had imagined a romp taking you through all the different eras they visited in the movies. Plus, the action is repetitive and boring.

Call of Juarez series - I like Westerns and I have a higher tolerance than most for "bad games" it seems, so I thought this series of Western FPSes from Poland might be cool. They're not. They're all crap. I wish I had tried any of them before I pre-ordered the newest one for $50 before it came out.

Dead Island - Another gem from the Techland folks of Call of Juarez fame. After the PCPER crew was over our Borderlands adventure, I really wanted this to be our next co-op extravaganza! But, this game is buggy. The story is awful ("It's just like New Orleans!"). They had some cool ideas, a cool setting and premise and probably the best first-person melee combat in any game, but overall, the game stunk.

Duke Nukem Forever - Oh god. I paid $50 for this? Bad level design, stupid sophomoric humor (hope you like jokes about strippers and boobs) and just an overall crap crap crap crap game.

Gothic - The Gothic RPG series from Germany is supposed to be Europe's answer to the Elder Scrolls series, and they're supposed to have a more realistic world and NPCs (people care if you go rummaging through their house, etc.), but I booted up the first Gothic on Steam. Granted, it's an old game, came out in 2001, but it doesn't have any mouse support at all. Yep, apparently mice weren't invented in Germany in 2001, as the game uses the keyboard for everything, and it's a third-person RPG like Morrowind. Big disappointment, and the control scheme in Gothic 2 is about just as bad. One of these days, I'll have to invest the time in learning how to use the keypad to look around, but it was a major disappointment to discover the game doesn't use the mouse for anything.

Jade Empire - Wow, BioWare's first RPG not based on the Star Wars or Dungeons & Dragons licenses! An all-original game based in China and Nathan Fillion is voicing the lead antagonist? Count me in! Oh wait. This game has a terrible story, terrible voice acting (Fillion seems like he's being intentionally corny) with some borderline racist Asian accents, terrible combat system, and just overall a crap game from BioWare.

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days - I liked the first Kane & Lynch, despite all its issues and infamy for getting Jeff Gerstmann fired from GameSpot. Unfortunately, this one has a shorter story that makes no sense, worse combat and some goddamn terrible visual filters on the screen the whole time. Oh yeah, the ending is one of the worst in video game history.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition - Japan tries to make an American-style third-person action shooter and fails. Story is dumb. Action is dumb. The game may have been an early technological showpiece for the Xbox 360 but looks like ass on any modern PC.

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy - What a crappy ending to a great and legendary series of Star Wars games.

Wolfenstein (2009 remake) - I love the Wolfenstein series and I love my boys at Raven Software of Madison, Wisconsin, but this game is terrible. The whole semi-futuristic steampunk Nazi crap? What the ••••? The robot Nazi women you have to kill by shooting them in the boobs? Who made this game, Duke Nukem? Oh yeah, the open worldly stuff in between missions is dumb too. And level design is crap. Has some great weapons, Raven is good at weapon design, but it's a silver lining for this turd.

Well I didn't buy The Ship (kevin gave me that) but it was pretty bad. Far Cry 2, couldn't even give away extra copies. Enemy Territory Quake Wars.

Sorry you didn't like The Ship, zeta. I still think it's a fun multiplayer game.

The Ship is a cool game, you just need the right crew to play with. It's a different kind of multiplayer.

Other multiplayer games that were cool that I was disappointed the Fragging Frogs didn't get attached too, Lead & Gold and BC2: Vietnam. Well, BC2: Vietnam was cool but I don't know if I would call it "good".

I didn't mind BC2:V, I just thought the original BC2 maps were better in general. We played Lead & Gold once or twice but without a decent crowd it was hard to get in to and the public community was very weak.

FEAR 2 was pretty bad, I'm sure there are worse that I have forgotten. The Force Unleashed was bad; so was MoH:Pacific Assault multiplayer.

BC2:Vietnam was alright.... until some asshat started up a chopper strafing circle jerk, then it was " how fast can I turn this f#@cking stupid piece of sh*t off!!!!!!!!" Oh yeah, and the snipers were all out overpowered, which made it even worse.

Far Cry 2 has to be at the top of my list. God how I hated that game! How much did I hate it? Dead Island was much more fun. That's how much!
