laptop 500? Buying 1 in July

I am not depending on the forum to answer this question but it would be nice to have some feedback.
The budget is 500$
I hope to be able to play 1080p
and with usb 3.0
This laptop is not for gaming but everything else you could think of.
I still want to have a fast laptop and not just go for the minimum specs for the software all be using like Skype, Excel, Video ect.

I am thinking i5 or the A10 from AMD

I was thinking the i5 intel cpu couple be put together with a AMD GPU

Anyways i still am not sure what to buy.
Or where to buy it.

Any feedback would be helpful.

Well I have not purchased a laptop yet.

If you can find one with an i5 the built-in video should be fine if you aren't gaming. A dedicated video card will probably drive the cost up over your $500 limit and in your case I think it's unneeded.

So look for an i5, 4 GB RAM and whatever hard drive size you think you need. SSD drives are still expensive so avoid them.

Btw, I normally recommend AMD but I just don't have enough experience with their mobile CPUs to give an honest recommendation.

Maybe this Asus with a quad core and AMD graphics ? Sure the
HD is a lil small and only has 3 gigs or ram, but ram is cheap
anf it does have 1 USB 3.0 along with 2 USB 2.0.

For RAM you could update to something like 8 gigs and still be in your budget.

I was thinking AMD would be a good choices with a dedicated gpu
I do hear that they actually do have longer battery life then intel but less peformance.
It is a hard choices.

Is it the right time to buy a laptop?
Or should I wait until windows 8 comes out to buy one?

Should i wait for new APU/CPU come out before buying?
