    Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 board,need cpu which one>i5 3570K new or i7 2700K used same cost

Title of thread says it all

Essentially I can buy a 2700K used for the same cost as what I have paid for a sealed 3570K. The 3570K cost me 240 after tax cnd and the 2700K I can snag for $230 and it is a month old with receipt cause guy grabbed a 3930

I have a Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 board which I am hoping I can use. plan to overclock and just want 4.5

    2700K ?

I knew I would be asked that Currently my X6 1090T is used for gaming and Photoshop use, along with Sony Vegas occasionally. I also use it for some home video editing of 720p and 1080p , after that it is just an all round system.

I realize the extra virtual cores of the 2700K will assist with the video editing, what I wonder is whether the 3570K will suffice during these periods. I like the benefit of lower power consumption and I am only looking for an overclock in the range of 4-4.5 tops. Newer tech is not always better and for me I know nothing about Intel as I last used it back a Q6700 and P35 DFI board.

If my CHIV did not crap out and need rma I would continue with that susyem but I figure I can sell the combo off once I get the board back from RMA

So really at this time between 2 units costing the same which would you choose? What chip will be better to off down the road getting me the best return. Onboard video will not be used as I will use a 6950 2gb, but I guess later on the 3570K may be more attractive on a resell since it has HD4000 vs 3000..

Personally I'd go for the 2700K

As you Overclock, the "power saving" difference is moot.

Just as an FYI my 2600K rig (at 4.5 Ghz) at idle draws 168w at the wall, after the drives spin down 156w.

Full load (both processor and vid card) 480w worst case.

Well i was planning to grab the 2700k and return my 3570k and then bam 30 minutes ago a 3570k pops up on craigslist locally for me and i threw out a lower offer than the 200 asking, seller accepted my 175 offer so i think i am going to take the savings of 55 over the 2700k at 230. This makes the whole upgrade relatively cheap at 275 for board and chip.

Part of me says get the 2700 but i think the 3570k will be fine, i went through this review and the 3570k seems decent to me for the price i am paying and when am between video cards i have better onboard to use while i hunt for a deal after selling what i have
