Question Shopping Assistance/ Building High End Computer

    Hello PC Perspective,

For the past year I've dreamed of having my first custom built High End/ Gaming PC and now I'm finally getting around to having enough cash!

I got a whole bunch of parts picked out but It still seems a bit Pricey for me, I'd like to decrease the price without decreasing the performance

The following is my Current Shopping list for the build and I was hoping you'd give suggestions for anything to help with the Wallet Damage

    Prices are all Newegg.ca

Corsair Carbide Series 500R ATX Mid Tower Computer Case: $139.99

    ASRock X79 Extreme3 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard: $254.99

CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750M 750W Power Supply: $129.99

    Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM: $79.99

    Intel Core i7-3820 Sandy Bridge-E 3.6GHz: $309.99

    CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB DDR3 SDRAM: $61.99

    EVGA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB: $279.99

    HP 24X Multiformat DVD Burner 24X: $29.99

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium: $109.99

So Overall the Sub-Total leads to $1396.91
(and that's Excluding Shipping/Handling and GST)

The only things that I'd like to keep permanent is the GPU and CPU, The rest can be debatable.

Also, if you find anything that would cause conflict between parts, please also mention so, This is my first time building a computer

Have you considered LGA 1155? The I7-3820 is the bottom line LGA 2011 CPU, it's also using 32NM lithography rather than the 22NM lithography that ivy bridge uses, meaning it runs hotter and uses more power than an ivy bridge CPU. It's also more expensive. I'd recommend LGA 2011 if you were going for a 6 core or more CPU, but otherwise it's the fastest way to drop ~$200.

Also, that RAM looks a bit expensive. Back in the day a lot of people swore by their RAM speeds, now-a-days speed doesn't matter as much as quantity. Have you considered looking at Patriot, G.skill, and other less expensive memory?

That hard drive is going to be very underwhelming with the rest of that system. I would consider purchasing a 128 gig (or larger) Samsung 830 series solid state disk (I love mine) and a 1TB (or larger) caviar black storage drive.

If you're a student, check this deal out for Windows 7 professional, http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/...ctID.216644200 (You'll have to Google how to install a clean copy of Windows 7 from an upgrade DVD).

Also, we talked about this on instant messenger, but I highly recommend the Antec 900 case, http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16811129021 , it's cheaper.

I'm also a bit leery about a GTX 570. It's last-gen. What resolution are you gaming at and how many monitors are you pushing?

I'm loving my i7-3820 wouldn't have any other right now. and for ram your doing 2x4gb sticks? to get to that 8gb you mentioned? to get full benefit of the quad channel memory you have to have 4 matching ram sticks so i would go with 4x4gb modules. If you only buy/install 2 ram sticks your only running at dual channel.

the antec weighs 2lbs more and i've built a few systems in the antec series cases there not very good quality

I think you would be much happier in a corsair
