Re: Quick RAM Question from a newbie

I suspect that the problem stick has a timing issue. This is why it runs fine in the slot closest to the controller, but not in slots further away. That was a good bit of diagnostic work. I know it can be painfully slow to do sometime, and frequently maddeningly frustrating when the error doesn't seem to follow any rule - or follows it for a bit, and then changes. But this is how we learn. And really, it's pretty rare: most times it works or it doesn't. But don't let it put you off, because that's about as hard as it gets. Hopefully your RAM will get replaced.

Re: Quick RAM Question from a newbie

good to see your getting close to your answer. so the good 3 sticks pass just fine when there all installed in 3 of the slots?

I do have to say though that is why you stick to the great hardware manufacturer's, in your case the motherboard is fairly good, not my first choice but good none the less.

seeing as the stick came as a set its hard to say if they will exchange just 1 stick. I've never dealt with patriots support team. I've had a few of their products, 2 of which are ssd's in RAID 0 and tons of usb drives

but ya the more diagnostics you do and in different hardware environments the more tech savy you become. I could go on awhile about hardware diagnostic programs and diagnostic tools

hopefully you solved your weird issues

and doesn't it feel good to figure something out without paying someone else?
