HSF Comparison? Google Fails

I was looking for some links to a HSF roundup, but the most recent one I could find on google was from Frostytech... like last year.

I went to hardocp and went through a couple of their reviews by sound level and found the lowest they have reviewed recently was a

Zerotherm zt10d.

Which conflicts with frostytech, which points to the scythe orochi.

Both are basically inaudible at idle, and almost nothing under load.

I have an X6 1100T and want to make sure they can cool it, even though they're older HSFs...

tl-dr;
Should I get either of those (If I can find one?!), or is there a newer HSF that would be better?

Bonus points: the maximum overall height of the cooler is 140 mm.

the coolermaster 212 series is the one that most often recommended cooler around here. the evo being the latest model in that price range. you do have to remove the board from the case for installation.

It was a fine HTPC when I only had a phenom x4 in it, but I upgraded to the 1100T and it is obnoxiously loud when it's not at idle... but it is a lot better at gaming now.

There's also a gtx 560 in there.

Airflow seems pretty good? There's the two 140 mm fans, and then the one in the PSU.

Coolermaster 212 is too big too.

I might have to get a water cooling rig at this rate.

something like your last choice should work great. an upright cooler facing it's discharge toward those fans would be perfect.

I had great results with an Antec Kuhler 620. I've seen them a lot on sale now for under $50 at various places too.

I'm going to go with ARCTIC COOLING UCACO-FZ13100-BL. It's the biggest, best cooler I can get in that case.

When I upgrade to an AM3 mobo I think I'll make a DIY water cooler out of the project.

Does anyone have opinions on when the AM3+ motherboard market will bottom out?

Results. It's great... except I'm confused where SIV is getting this temp for 'T3 CPU' that is an alarming 121C while everything else is 40

glad your happy with your choice of your new cooler.

that 121c is an arbitrary number assigned by the software for a sensor that the board manufacturer didn't enable.

Nope, it was my north bridge getting hot because the new cooler doesn't blow down on the motherboard.

Luckily ASUS is so cool they include a fan with the motherboard for just such an occaison, I've just never needed it. So I dusted it off and plugged it in and now the max for the northbridge is 40C instead of 121.
