Dlink DIR-655 problem?

Main pc on my network has serious wireless slowdowns. Other machines are ok. Have tried different adapter and Windows 7 installations. Latest firmware is installed in the router. No virus or malware present. any ideas?

Have you tried connecting with a wired connection to the router? Also have you disabled DNS relay?

wired connection is ok. DNS relay is grayed out... can't change setting.

On the pc have you tried disabling any green modes for it?

This is something out of the blue. I will check the bios though. Starting to seriously aggravate me....

updated the bios to latest version. nothing out of the ordinary in bios setup. reinstalled all chipset drivers... same. swapped adapter to different usb ports no change. could it be a usb problem on the motherboard? all other usb devices seem ok.

Is the adapter plugged into a hub or directly, also in device manager is there any other device on the same USB hub?

The adapter is plugged directly into the motherboard. Device Manager doesn't list the adapter on an usb controller.

For whatever reason my Gigabyte board has decided it doesn't like USB wireless adapters any more. I installed a PCI Express adapter and speed is back to normal.
