Dialing into The Microsoft Network late at night and throwing a blanket over the modem so my parents wouldn't hear me going on the internet at 3am to look for porn .gifs.

That old modem screech was the best. I loved how you could tell if it connected just by the tone it would make at the right time even before the computer would say or whatever.

I hate hot weather. I need to move to the Pacific Northwest or somewhere where it's cool year round.

You have no idea what you are talking about, the shitty hair bands were just 1 genre you would run into, if you didn't bother getting up and turning off MTV. The 80's brought along the rise of Iron Maiden, the thrash metal scene started by bands like Metal Church, Metallica, Megadeth and SLAYER!!!!!, along with some cool stuff like Gary Numan and Depeche Mode. Hell, I'd rather listen to Def Leppard's first 3 albums over the crap that is out there today, and you can toss in the stoopid grunge (bowel) movement, exceptions being Alice In Chains(best band from the 90's) and early Soundgarden.

Grunge was great. As for the other 80s bands you mentioned yes many metal heads consider that the glory era, one of my best friends in Europe still wears Iron Maiden shirts. I just think its lousy music. Depeche mode was alright though but they weren't metal. Im all about 90s music, grunge or 60s rock like Hendrix, good rap like 2pac or the glory days of electronica/trance/techno from british Ministry of Sound. Yes now everything does suck, rock is gei, rap is nothing but wannabbes and the electronica has fused on to other genres where they sample its sounds into almost every genre.
