building a new pc, and i'm just wondering if intel 4000 graphics are even comparable with a radeon 6xxx/7xxx series card?
here in india, going i7 2600K + radeon 6xxx will cost me the same as an i7 3770k
would appreciate your inputs!

Short answer: no.
Longer answer: no, they are basically the minimum required to run 2D graphics and basic stuff like Flash etc. If you only want the computer for business-type stuff (word processing, spreadsheets, surfing etc) then it's fine, but on all but very old games even a low-spec proper graphics card will kill Intel graphics.
M
thank you!
if it were you, would you buy 2600K+radeon 6
or buy a 3820/3770K, and retain an old radeon 4870 1gb?
It works outstanding for a HTPC, however. It handles 1080p video with ease, and will do 3d. Plus it will bitstream HD audio over HDMI to an Audio system that can handle it.
True enough. It's really games, and things like video editing, which need a proper graphics card. Any content consumption (Flash, DVD, U-Tube high-res etc) is generally fine with on-board graphics.
well then it's a no go... currently running a 4870, and i can't play CoD6 at max res... i hope to play CoD7, FarCry 2 and Crysys 2 on the new rig... going to go the good ole fashioned route and invest in a radeon 7, and cut corners on the processor... i7 2600k it is! thank you both for your time!![]()
Crysis 2 really needed a good graphics card for high settings.
I played Crysis 2 on med to high settings with a 4890 but at 1280x1024 settings on dual 19" monitors. Fps were good, nice and smooth. I was kinda surprised meself.
