Can this SLI be done?

Buddy thought his vid card was going out (550ti), so he bought another one, different brand, but still a 550ti.

come to find out it was the mb that was really bad, so got a new mb. New mb supports SLI, so was wondering if he can SLI if the two cards are not the exact same? his two cards are:

GTX 550 Ti Gigabyte 1 Gig of DDR

GTX 550 Ti EVGA 2 Gig GDDR5

Yes it can be done, BUT you will only see the benefit of 1gb of memory, as that is what it will default to.

This is the case. The higher specced card will always default to the lowest clock speeds and only address the same amount of vram as the lowest card
